Team Lead - Production

Overview Position: Team Lead Reports To: Production Manager Location: Swedesboro, NJ Pay range: $75-80K Work schedule: 5pm to 2am Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat (Sun, Wed and Thu off) Responsibilities Mentor associates, contribute to continuous process improvement, and ensure that quality, sanitation, and safety guidelines are met. Produce and package a high quality product through proper procedures and adherence to GMPs and government standards; report and address food safety and quality issues with appropriate personnel; follow quality and safety programs. Ensure production lines operate efficiently and meet targeted throughput; complete hourly audits for safety, quality, cost, and line performance; develop and execute action plans to address gaps in efficiency. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to minimize downtime and maximize yield; address root causes of unplanned downtime. Manage production and employee schedules, ensuring correct crewing and de-crewing in accordance with standards. Monitor rework levels and usage to keep rework to a minimum. Monitor product yields and implement corrective actions to close gaps. Build capability through effective employee relations, hiring, training, and communications for frontline hourly associates; coach and mentor to drive productivity, efficiency, and yields. Plan and initiate cross-training to expand job knowledge and scheduling flexibility. Track KPI/costs and address trends that affect financial targets; report daily requirements and metrics (quality, safety, schedule attainment, case fill rate, order fill rate, yield). Manage plant overhead costs to budget (T&E, supplies, utilities, sanitation, etc.). Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Bi-lingual capability is a plus. Ability to work a flexible schedule and in a cold environment (34°F; 70% time in cold, 30% administrative office work). Demonstrated ability to work in a team-based, fast-paced, changing environment. Understanding of production procedures, safety processes, and food safety/quality requirements (FDA compliance) is desirable. Exposure to TPM, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; self-motivated and independent. Basic mathematical and analytical skills; problem-solving abilities. Ability to work well in a team and collaborate across the organization. Desire to learn and contribute to a positive culture. Ability to initiate actions to prevent nonconformities related to food safety, quality, and production efficiencies. Proficiency with computer tools including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Google Suite. Familiarity with JDE, RPMS, DSI, and ADP timekeeping is a plus. Must be able to work a flexible schedule as needed (typical days off are Thursday and Sunday).
