CDL-A Driver

Pay: $29-$29 DOE (to start)


Schedule: M-F; start as early as 3 AM, normal start 5 AM-6 AM, working 8-12-hour days, OT available.


Our client is seeking a safe, dependable, and customer-focused CDL Class A Driver to join their transportation team. The CDL A Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of recyclable materials, containers, and equipment throughout the Portland metropolitan area and surrounding regions. This position plays a critical role in supporting our commitment to environmental sustainability, customer service, and operational excellence.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate Class A commercial vehicles, including tractor-trailers, transfer trailers, end dumps, roll-off trucks, tipper trucks, and other assigned equipment.
• Transport recyclable materials, scrap metal, and other commodities between customer locations, processing facilities, and transfer sites.
• Perform daily pre-trip, post-trip, and safety inspections in accordance with DOT regulations and company policies.
• Perform weekly tire checks.
• Secure loads properly and ensure compliance with all state, local, and federal transportation laws.
• Complete required driver logs, vehicle inspection reports, manifests, and other transportation documentation.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and operations personnel regarding pickups, deliveries, and scheduling changes.
• Maintain a professional appearance and provide excellent customer service during all interactions.
• Monitor vehicle performance and report maintenance concerns promptly.
• Assist with loading and unloading activities when necessary.
• Follow all company safety procedures, environmental regulations, and workplace policies.
• Participate in safety meetings and ongoing training programs

Required Qualifications

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A).
• Current Medical Examiner's Certificate (DOT Medical Card).
• Acceptable driving record and ability to meet company insurance requirements; MVR REQUIRED.
• Minimum of 1 to 3 years of commercial driving experience.
• Ability to safely operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in recycling, waste management, scrap metal, construction, or industrial transportation.
• Experience operating roll-off, end-dump, walking-floor, or transfer-trailer equipment.
• Forklift, heavy equipment, or material handling experience.
• Familiarity with the Portland Metro and surrounding Oregon transportation routes.
• Route areas include: Seattle, Corvallis, Tillamook, and Troutdale.

Working Conditions

• Outdoor and industrial work environment.
• Exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, noise, and vehicle traffic.
• Overtime, early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekend work may be required based on business needs.
