The Civil Engineer provides the following design services; site grading, stormwater management, Zoning and SALDO Ordinance review and understanding, erosion & sediment control, communicate technical information clearly and professionally with clients, project partners, and public officials, with support from project leadership as appropriate. The Civil Engineer will join a professional, supportive team where careful work is valued, expectations are clear, and technical expertise is developed through structured training, coaching, and meaningful project experience. The work will directly influence how communities grow and how clients bring important projects to life.

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

• Review, interpret, and apply zoning, SALDO, stormwater, erosion and sediment control, and other applicable ordinance requirements to guide practical project solutions.
• Coordinate with township officials & professionals, DEP, PennDOT and Conservation Districts to provide requested information, clarify technical details, and support project approvals
• Prepare and refine site grading, erosion and sediment control, stormwater management, site layout, and related land development designs using AutoCAD/Civil 3D and applicable hydrologic and hydraulic tools.
• Organize personal work and coordinate assigned tasks with project team members to support timely delivery
• Compose letters, outlines, memoranda, and complex reports
• Translate technical information into clear, practical recommendations for both technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Prepare technical materials and, when assigned, support presentations that explain project concepts, design decisions, and regulatory requirements that explain project concepts, design decisions, and regulatory requirements in a way that builds understanding and trust.
• Support multiple projects and priorities while maintaining accuracy, responsiveness, and consistent follow-through.
• Report back all information to Department Head in an organized manner

 

Essential Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related area

 

Desired Qualifications:

• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification or Professional Engineers
• 2+ years of Land Development experience

 

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and dependable, with the interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across project teams and stakeholder groups.
• Exceptional helpful and responsive written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare complex reports, explain technical information clearly, and present well-prepared technical information clearly and accurately for the audience and project need.
• Working knowledge of the land development permitting process and the ability to interpret regulations, identify constraints, and help develop compliant, practical solutions.
• Ability to establish respectful, productive relationships with township officials, professionals, DEP, PennDOT, Conservation Districts, clients, and other partners.
• Brings sound judgment, integrity, candor, and a commitment to quality to every project and professional interaction.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a project team
• Ability to understand complex problems, evaluate alternatives, and collaborate with others to develop solutions that are technically sound and practical to implement.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365, AutoCAD (preferably Civil 3D) and applicable hydrologic/hydraulic software; willingness to learn new tools and improve technical capabilities.

 

Essential Position Requirements:

• Occasional regional travel is required for project meetings, site visits, and coordination with clients and regulatory partners.
• Ability to work additional or nonstandard hours when project deadlines or client needs require it, with an emphasis on proactive planning and communication.

The employee is occasionally required to reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Work Environment:

Work is generally performed within an office environment where the noise level is usually quiet to moderate. When work is performed outdoors on construction sites, conditions may vary by client and facility. Adherence to all health and safety requirements within the office, on construction sites and detailed within our Health & Safety Manual is imperative.
