Registered Nurse - Cardiac Stepdown

Job Description

Job Summary:

Provides specialized nursing care to cardiac patients in a stepdown unit, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through monitoring, treatment, and collaboration with the healthcare team.

Responsibilities:

Assess patient conditions, interpret strips, and monitor cardiac rhythms to detect changes promptly.
Administer prescribed medications, including titratable drips such as Heparin and Lasix, adhering to physician orders.
Perform clinical duties including EKGs, ADLs, FSBS, and equipment management for CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy.
Collaborate with charge nurses, house supervisors, and team members to coordinate patient care and unit operations.
Document patient assessments, interventions, and responses accurately in electronic medical records.
Support new staff through orientation and assist with admissions, discharges, and other clinical tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

Valid RN license with minimum of 1 year of acute care experience in a cardiac or stepdown setting.
Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
Proven ability to read and interpret cardiac strips and vital signs confidently.
Comfortable managing various patient conditions such as post-heart cath, CHF, COPD, arrhythmias, and pacer patients.
Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays, with flexibility for call or standby duties.
