Location: Albany, NY Category: Professional Job Type: Full-time Posted On: Thu Apr 16 2026 Job Description The Assistant Apartment Coordinator (AAC) supports the operations of an apartment complex housing approximately 225–1,200 residents. The AAC helps create an inviting, intellectual, and inclusive community, coordinates community development programming, staff development, administrative duties, adjudicates violations, and provides front‑end office support. The AAC supervises work‑study students and serves on weekly on‑duty and recess rotation. This is a live‑in position and the incumbent must reside in the assigned on‑campus apartment. The role lasts for a twelve‑month calendar year. Primary Responsibilities Support front‑end operations within University Apartments. Serve on call and on duty weekly to respond to emergencies, mental health incidents, and enforce university policies. Assist with staff development, programming, and administrative functions of the apartment complex. Handle student conduct adjudication, fitness center management, summer operations support, and conference‑room reservation management. Support key departmental functions including opening/closing, staff hiring/training, housing selection, and attending designated events. When supervisory, lead and manage direct reports, provide guidance and performance feedback, and facilitate a positive work environment. Attend university meetings, events, and trainings. Represent Residential Life at enrollment‑focused events, including nights and weekends. Perform other reasonable duties as assigned. Functional and Supervisory Relationships Reports to Apartment Coordinator. Supervises work‑study student staff; may supervise other student employees as assigned. Job Requirements Ability to live in the provided on‑campus apartment throughout employment. Demonstrated ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within a diverse campus community. Demonstrated ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging in the role. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university. Valid driver’s license. Preferred Qualifications Experience in college or university residential life. Working Environment Blend of office, residence, program spaces, and outdoor campus locations; incidents may involve policy violations, mental health issues, or emergencies. Dynamic, fast‑paced environment requiring flexible, adaptive work, including evenings and weekends as a live‑in professional. Physical demands: occasional standing, walking, occasional lifting; moderate overall. Mental demands: multitasking, problem solving, decision making, customer service, conflict resolution, and emergency response under pressure.
