Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Clinical Resource Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Nursing License Certifications: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: - Ability to float to multiple units and provide care to diverse patient populations. - Ability to manage care for both acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients. - Ability to develop, implement, and modify patient care plans. - Skill in medication administration and evaluating medication effects. - Skill in preparing patients for procedures and managing post-operative care. - Skill in IV venipuncture and blood administration. - Ability to document care accurately using EMR. - Ability to educate patients and families on care plans and discharge instructions. - Ability to provide constructive feedback and assist in the professional development of peers. - Ability to handle conflict management and maintain professional communication with team members. - Skill in critical thinking to assess patient status and take appropriate action. - Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members. - Ability to prioritize patient safety and adhere to all safety standards including fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, and ambulation safety. - Ability to complete patient bedside shift reports, hourly rounding, and maintain updated patient communication boards. - Ability to delegate appropriately and follow up on delegated tasks. Description: The Clinical Resource Unit is committed to our Nursing Professional Practice Model. Our dedicated nursing staff, nurse leaders, interdisciplinary team members, and physician partners provide specialized medical and nursing care to various inpatient units. Medical diagnoses include but are not limited to coronary artery disease, angina, myocardial ischemia, myocardial infarction, dysrhythmia, syncope, congestive heart failure, strokes, cancer, cellulitis, post-surgical care, and chest pain. The environment is fast-paced, exciting, and always evolving. The position involves performing all responsibilities and duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service. Responsibilities include implementing procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintaining up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team is essential. You will complete initial assessments upon patient admission and develop appropriate plans of care in accordance with unit standards. Implementing the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures is required. You must modify plans of care based upon continuous evaluation. Taking responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents is critical. You are expected to communicate with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues. Offering constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers is essential. You will confer with colleagues to expand your knowledge base and identify your own learning needs. You will be responsible for floating to various inpatient units, providing direct nursing care, and collaborating with multidisciplinary team members for diverse patient populations. Conducting assessments, nursing diagnoses, plans, implementing, and evaluating patient care are part of the role. You will act as a resource to staff from various units and coordinate care with multidisciplinary team members. Managing care of acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients is important. Identifying patient goals of care, designing and maintaining care plans with patients and families is required. Preparing patients for procedures, providing pain management, performing IV venipuncture, blood administration, and monitoring labs will be your responsibility. Discharging patients and providing instruction for safe transitions from the hospital is included in your duties. All care must be documented using EMR. You will ensure that team huddles occur and will attend them. Delegation with appropriate follow-up is expected, along with answering call lights and ensuring basic care standards are met. Handling conflict management and maintaining professional communication with all team members is required. Providing post-operative care for the complex surgical population is part of the job description.
