About the Role
The Company is in search of a Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) to spearhead the development and management of a robust compliance program. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing a compliance framework that encompasses a wide range of areas, including AML, CFT, sanctions, consumer protection, and data privacy. This role demands a hands-on approach in the early stages, with a focus on setting global licensing strategy and expanding the financial crimes program. The CCO will also be tasked with staying abreast of industry best practices, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring that the company's policies and procedures align with the evolving regulatory landscape. A key aspect of the position is to build a tech- and AI-forward compliance function, leveraging automation to scale monitoring, reporting, and licensing tracking. Applicants for the CCO position at the company should have a minimum of 10 years' of experience in compliance, with a strong background in cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology, data privacy, or financial services. A proven track record of at least 3 years' in a CCO or similar role within a scaling organization, particularly in regulated businesses, is essential. The ideal candidate will have experience in building compliance functions from the ground up, a deep understanding of regulatory requirements related to digital currencies and payments, and a strong strategic and analytical skill set. A genuine tech and AI orientation, excellent communication skills, and a background in a start-up or high-growth environment are also highly valued.
