This position is open to hybrid and/or remote applicants. Hybrid work combines regular in-person presence at our Washington, DC, office with the option of remote work. Work location cannot be in any of the following states: Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Washington. Responsibilities Brookings Metro’s work on Native American communities focuses on the role that federal, state, local, and philanthropic partners can play to enable Tribal sovereignty, support Tribal economic development, and enhance the well-being of Indigenous people. This internship will contribute to a range of projects assessing how changing patterns of federal and state investment are affecting Tribes and Native American communities. Interns will work alongside Metro scholars by assisting with research and writing tasks, as well as gathering information from literature, data sets, and practitioners and incorporating it into blog posts, reports, and briefs. Qualifications Education/Knowledge/Skills Undergraduate or graduate students (pursuing a masters degree) with an interest in Native American or Indigenous policy are encouraged to apply. Position will require excellent research and writing skills, as well as experience with data management and visualization, preferably with Excel, R, and ArcGIS or Datawrapper.
