Ophthalmologist - Pediatric and Comprehensive

$15k

Northwest Permanente P.C.

Job Description

Job Description

Our organization stands as the largest multispecialty medical group in Oregon and southwestern Washington, comprising over 1,500 physicians and more than 300 administrative professionals dedicated to serving over 615,000 members. Owned and managed by physicians, we offer competitive salaries that are not tied to the volume of individual services provided. Our medical group features board-certified specialists across more than 50 disciplines.

We are currently seeking applications for a Board Certified or Board Eligible Ophthalmologist to become part of our Central Interstate team in Portland, OR. You will collaborate with a compassionate and integrated team of physicians, along with supportive clinical and administrative staff, to deliver a combination of Pediatric and Comprehensive Ophthalmology services. Our Ophthalmologists work within a fully integrated practice, benefiting from a connected healthcare model that enhances efficiency. You will encounter a substantial surgical volume, addressing a wide array of ophthalmologic conditions. The extent of subspecialty work will be determined by patient and team needs. In this role, you will primarily serve as the Pediatric Ophthalmologist, treating mainly pediatric patients, along with some adult strabismus cases and participating in general comprehensive call rotations. Your schedule will include a half-day surgery block on Tuesday mornings and weekly rounds for Retinopathy of Prematurity at the Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center NICU.

We are in search of collaborative team members who prioritize patient care in a supportive environment. Our focus is not on financial metrics, allowing us to remove business pressures from patient interactions. Our patient-centered model fosters seamless and efficient care across various specialties. Utilizing cutting-edge technology, you will manage a higher acuity of diseases while conducting routine exams, including all refractions, and will lead Pediatric patients referred by our Optometry partners.

What You Can Anticipate:

  • A shared call schedule among all providers, with general ophthalmology call distributed evenly, averaging 4-6 weekdays and 4-5 weekends throughout the year.

  • Experienced support staff to assist you.

  • Access to a physician-friendly advanced Epic EMR system.

  • Potential for leadership roles within the medical group if desired.

  • Eligibility for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).

  • Options for 1.00 and 0.9 FTE schedules (with prorated compensation).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Board Certified or Eligible in Ophthalmology.

  • Completion of fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology.

What We Offer You:

  • Generous employer-funded pension and retirement contributions totaling 21% of eligible clinician earnings, with optional additional employee contributions.

  • Competitive compensation structure that is not reliant on a fee-for-service model.

  • A pathway for physicians to become shareholders in our organization.

  • Paid annual education leave along with an annual education allowance.

  • Comprehensive benefits package, including largely employer-funded medical and dental insurance premiums, life insurance, and paid leave.

  • Full professional liability coverage at no cost, 100% reimbursement for obtaining and maintaining board certification, continuing medical education reimbursement, and in-house CME opportunities.

  • Total Rewards value ranging from $497,621 to $652,000.

Current Hiring Incentives for This Position:

  • Relocation assistance of up to $15,000.

  • The annual salary for this role ranges from $411,900 to $502,300, taking into account the applicant’s skills, qualifications, degrees, certifications, training, market data, and other relevant factors. In addition to the salary range, we provide rich benefits that significantly enhance the overall compensation package.
