Registered Nurse Manager

Registered Nurse Manager Texas Behavioral Health Center is a newly completed state‑funded psychiatric hospital opening in Dallas’ Southwestern Medical District. Owned by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) and operated by UT Southwestern Medical Center, it will house 292 beds – 200 for adult patients and 92 for children and adolescents – and provide state‑of‑the‑art, patient‑centered care in a modern, healing environment. Location 5323 Harry Hines Blvd, Dallas, TX 75001 Responsibilities Develop and implement an action plan to improve department performance. Meet or exceed financial goals and objectives of the department. Provide direct patient care and/or serve as charge nurse as needed; identify opportunities to teach and mentor nursing personnel. Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, code of ethics, JCAHO standards, and nationally recognized standards of nursing practice. Participate in resolution of physician, patient, and family complaints; report to Guest Services or Department of Nursing in a timely manner. Review staffing plans to ensure adequate coverage, utilizing staffing guidelines and patient acuity systems to optimize resources. Identify and report efficiency or cost‑saving ideas to the Director of Nursing (DON) and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). Interview and make final hiring decisions for all nursing personnel for the unit; conduct performance reviews and orientation evaluations. Provide immediate counseling and documentation for disciplinary interventions, including suspension and termination, in accordance with policy. Lead staff meetings and coordinate special projects such as educational activities, research projects, recruitment, and interdisciplinary hospital committees. Develop the unit’s annual capital and operational budgets; complete payroll editing and maintain attendance records. Promote teamwork among nursing staff and support collaborative efforts across the organization. Facilitate timely return of specialty equipment and participate in routine and special care conferences. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Graduate of an NLN‑approved nursing program and hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Five years of experience as a registered nurse with at least two years of management experience; specialty areas may require additional experience. Current Texas (or BNE Compact State) license under the Nursing Licensure Compact and basic life support (BLS) certification.
