Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 25-bed Progressive Care Unit with a focus on heavy neuro trauma, neurosurgery, craniectomy, and orthopedic patient populations
• Maintain RN patient ratios of 1:5–1:6 while delivering safe, high-quality care
• Administer and monitor drip therapies including Heparin, PCAs, and 3% Sodium (no titration required)
• Utilize specialty equipment including telemetry monitoring, chest tubes, and airvo devices
• Perform EKG strip reading, measuring, and telemetry interpretation
• Float across multiple campuses within the health system as required

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 24 months of recent experience in a Medical Surgical, IMCU, Stepdown, or Progressive Care setting within a hospital or medical center
• Neurology and/or neurosurgery care experience
• Orthopedic care experience
• Drip experience: Heparin, PCA, and 3% Sodium/Na
• EKG/strip reading, measuring, and telemetry experience
• Active Iowa RN license or active Compact/Multistate RN license at time of submission
• Active AHA or ARC ACLS certification
• Active AHA or ARC BLS certification
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR
• Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment within the previous 12 months

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Trauma Level I care experience
• Experience with specialty equipment: telemetry, chest tubes, and airvo devices
• NIHSS certification (may be obtained during onboarding)
• De-escalation certification (CPI, MOAB, MAB, or SAMA accepted)
