About the Company: Digital Scorpion Interactive (DSI) is a fully remote startup video game studio dedicated to innovation, integrity, and ingenuity. We aim to push the boundaries of modern gaming and create immersive experiences that captivate players. As an incubation studio, one of DSI’s core goals is to provide opportunities for game developers who are recent graduates or new to the industry. We offer real entry-level experience to talented individuals looking to break into the game development world. Our studio operates with a passionate team of approximately 20 dedicated cross-discipline developers. Position Overview Digital Scorpion Interactive is seeking a talented and experienced 3D Art Lead to guide the creation of high-quality 3D assets for our games and digital experiences. The ideal candidate will be skilled in industry-standard 3D tools—including Blender, Maya, and Substance Painter—and have a strong technical background in shader development and engine integration. You will collaborate closely with artists and developers, ensuring creative vision and technical excellence, while utilizing Nextcloud for storage and ClickUp for task delegation. Key Responsibilities Lead the 3D art team in the creation of game-ready assets, environments, props, and characters using Blender, Maya, and Substance Painter. Develop, implement, and optimize shaders and materials within game engines to achieve desired visual effects and performance. Collaborate with game designers, programmers, and other artists to ensure assets meet technical requirements and creative direction. Manage asset pipelines and workflows, ensuring timely delivery and organization using Nextcloud for storage and ClickUp for task delegation. Mentor and provide constructive feedback to team members, fostering growth and skill development. Establish and maintain art standards, documentation, and best practices for 3D asset creation and integration. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to 3D assets, shaders, and engine compatibility. Stay up to date with industry trends, new tools, and techniques to continually improve studio workflows and asset quality. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Art, Design, Computer Graphics, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience). 1+ years of professional experience in 3D art creation for games or digital media, with a portfolio demonstrating proficiency in Blender, Maya, and Substance Painter. Strong technical skills in shader development and engine integration (Unity, Unreal, or similar). Proficiency with asset management and task delegation tools, ideally Nextcloud and ClickUp. Excellent leadership and communication skills, with experience guiding and mentoring art teams. Solid understanding of art pipelines, optimization techniques, and best practices for 3D asset production. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, creative environment. Passion for indie game development and an eagerness to push creative boundaries. Ability to work remotely and commit 20-25 hours per week. Must be a U.S. citizen and reside in the Pacific, Mountain, Central, or Eastern U.S. time zone. Note: This position is currently unpaid, but we offer several benefits beyond experience.
