Principal IP Laws Consultant

We are hiring a Principal IP Consultant to join us at Clarivate. In this role, you will be delivering expert IP law guidance to some of Clarivate’s largest and most complex US-based clients. This position combines hands‑on IP law implementation with high‑impact client engagement, supporting governance, risk mitigation, and continuity for high‑value accounts. You will serve as a critical bridge between clients and internal teams—including Customer Success, Account Management, and Technical Consultants—ensuring timely resolution of urgent issues. You will also contribute to the ongoing development of docketing best practices, client education, and enhancements to Clarivate’s IP solutions. About You – Experience, Education, Skills, and Accomplishments Bachelor’s degree in Law, Intellectual Property, or related field or equivalent relevant work experience. 7+ years of experience in the intellectual property industry. 5+ years of experience with portfolio management software (preferably Memotech), docketing practice, or IP Law calculations. Advanced knowledge and understanding of Patent rules and procedures of the USPTO, EPO, PCT, WIPO, and other national and international governing bodies. Experience with IP consulting or client management, with the ability to navigate complex challenging client situations. What will you be doing in this role? Maintain and demonstrate expert understanding of at least one IPMS—Memotech—from both legal subject matter and product functionality perspectives. Serve as the IP Laws subject matter expert in client meetings, tracking and managing the end‑to‑end execution, strategizing, and problem‑solving of client issues. Manage client issues through Salesforce case creation, maintain a client issues tracker, and collaborate across teams (including IP Renewals, Product/Technical Support, EDT, Supplier Management, and CSMs) to ensure timely resolution and delivery. Follow IP Laws Salesforce processes to accurately track and process support tickets. Support efforts to proactively identify and remove at‑risk clients from the Risk Register. Provide guidance and support to CSMs to help resolve customer issues effectively. Support the Professional Services team with client requests, as needed. Participate in bi‑weekly/monthly touch‑base sessions with CSMs, product leads, and other stakeholders. Collaborate closely with other Memotech IP Laws Consultants to deliver timely, comprehensive responses to client inquiries, including direct communication and client education when required. Attend in‑person, customer‑facing events, conferences, and client visits—primarily in the US—to deliver IP Laws information sessions. Draft and test requirements definitions for IP law updates (particularly client support‑driven cases) to support timely, high‑quality IP law releases. Contribute to the creation and maintenance of product documentation including best‑practice guides and docketing guides. Liaise with Product teams on new system functionality needs and manage stakeholder engagement for change deployment, working closely with software developers to identify and resolve issues in the software’s functionality and programming. Participate in post‑production issue review meetings with Memotech. Conduct weekly check‑ins with the IP Laws team in Noida and Belgrade. Capture, track, and report key metrics related to Memotech law implementations. Participate in strategic initiative projects across the IP Laws team. About the Team You will be joining the IP Laws team in our Intellectual Property business segment at Clarivate. You will be a part of a global team with a focus on North America. You will report to the Senior Manager of IP Laws. Hours of Work Full Time, Permanent position. Compensation – US Only The expected base salary for this position is $108,000 – $130,000 USD per year. This role is eligible for bonus earnings. Individual pay is based upon experience, education, skill and ability, expertise, and relevant factors.
