Maintenance Mechanic

Maintenance Mechanic – Rock Yard Unit (Uncle Sam) We are looking for a skilled maintenance mechanic to troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on plant and mine equipment in accordance with Mosaic and manufacturer standards. Responsibilities Repair machinery and equipment following established job plans. Diagnose and troubleshoot machinery and equipment failures. Perform repairs on an emergency or “break‑in” basis. Apply lubricants and conduct preventive maintenance (PM) on equipment. Use hand tools, torches, welding equipment, pneumatic/electric tools, and precision measuring tools to repair or replace components such as pumps, fans, turbines, gearboxes, piping, fabrication, conveyors, large rotating equipment, draglines, and dredges. Operate overhead cranes, boom trucks, large forklifts, and aerial lifts (may require certification). Participate in Pre‑Job Hazard Analysis, PPE, Lock‑out/Tag‑out, Hot Work, Hazardous Work, Confined Space, Water Safety, Line Breaking, Safe Work, Daily PM Inspection, and other safety procedures. Attend Pre‑Job Safety Meetings, Weekly Safety Meetings, and required Annual Training. Provide feedback on workflow and report issues impacting safety and the environment. Enter work requests and completed tasks into Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Follow all safety procedures and maintain proper storage, inspection, and usage of tools and equipment. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s Degree in Vocational, Millwright, Pipefitter, Boilermaker, Machinist, or Welding preferred. At least 4 years of related industrial mechanical experience or completion of an accredited apprenticeship program. Phosphate industry experience preferred. Commercial driver’s license may be required. Basic computer skills and data entry capability. Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently, with a partner, or in a team. Must follow all safety procedures and be able to train in the operation of mobile equipment (boom truck, aerial lift, forklift). Ability to safely move in and through work areas, climb stairs, work at heights, and operate in a heavy‑industrial environment. Requirements for physical capability: lift 25–50 lbs. unassisted, work at various heights, distinguish colors, etc. Must be authorized to work in the United States.
