Medical Technician (Traveler)Our client, a medical research company, is looking for a medical technician for their Ellsworth, ME location. Responsibilities include:Following laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.Maintaining records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.Analyzing specimens using approved testing procedures.Reviewing and releasing test results.Following CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.Adhering to the laboratory's quality control policies, documenting all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and all maintenance performed.Following the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.Identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, correcting the problems encountered, or immediately notifying the senior technologist or supervisor.Documenting all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.Following department procedures in reporting critical results to clients.If applicable, answering questions from customers or other lab personnel.Maintaining complete records of all testing performed on-site.Maintaining the general appearance of the department.Ensuring reagents/test kits have received dates, expiration dates, and if applicable opened dates.Reviewing/training on new procedures.Attending monthly department and any additional training/educational meetings.Participating in all applicable safety training sessions, knowing the location and contents of the safety manual, and the location/use of all applicable safety equipment.May perform some moderate-complexity testing with specific on-site training provided.Performing other duties as directed by the supervisor.This is not an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities, but rather a general description of the work performed by this position.Requirements include:BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or an Associate's degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology or work experience.1 - 3 year clinical experience preferred.Ability to establish work priorities and handle several procedures simultaneously.Interacting with other departments.Contact with clients may be required, good customer service skills important.Protecting patient confidentiality at all times.State of credentials licenses required: MLS / MLT Certification.Why should you apply?Health benefitsReferral programExcellent growth and advancement opportunities
