What We're Doing Our team, the Command and Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) team at Lockheed Martin, engineers, develops, and integrates new capabilities for the Missile Defense System that protects the United States and its allies. We operate within small, agile teams in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment and our responsibilities include Sensor/Weapon Integration, Algorithm Development, User Interface Development, Automated Testing, Cyber Security, and enhancing critical missile defense technologies. The Work This position focuses on early‑phase (concept, requirements, and design) activities of the Systems‑Engineering Development Lifecycle. Responsibilities include: Lead the development of new system concepts by transforming stakeholder needs into reviewable technical approaches. Perform requirements elicitation and decomposition using behavioral artifacts such as use cases, activity diagrams, and sequence diagrams to convey system behaviors and performance. Lead development of physical and logical system models using Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approaches and tools. Lead system interface development, converting system and interface requirements into message‑level details sufficient for coordinating interface development. Support formal and informal engineering technical reviews. Create, review, and critique interface documents, system requirements, verification documentation, architectural documentation, and engineering estimates. Interface with key stakeholders, including the MDA customer and working‑level counterparts as required. Participate in Agile development planning and execution, including iteration planning and status reporting. Our national team supports the design, development, testing, integration, and fielding of hardware and software essential for the effective operation of the Missile Defense System (MDS) and interfaces directly with key customers such as the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). Who You Are You are a dedicated professional with a strong background in system engineering, passionate about missile defense technologies, collaborative, and able to implement innovative solutions under technical direction. Basic Qualifications Final TS clearance required. Systems Engineering/Architecture with Test Experience. Experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems engineers covering all aspects of the Systems‑Engineering Development Lifecycle. Experience with at least one element of the Missile Defense System. Experience with one or more elements involved in Space Defense, Space Domain Awareness, or other Space Missions. Experience with complex Command and Control Systems, especially those with heavy networking capabilities. Desired Skills Experience performing many of the responsibilities of this position, especially concept development and requirement decomposition. Experience with MBSE approaches and tools (e.g., Cameo). Experience working on tasks where failure to achieve results normally causes program delays and wasted resources. Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills; ability to present technical content and receive critical feedback. Ability to support short‑notice or urgent tasks without loss of efficiency. Experience regularly interacting with the customer in elicitation of needs and requirements.
