AI Agent Abuse Prevention Engineer

For our client, we are seeking an AI Agent Abuse Prevention Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Information Technology space. This role will lead work at the intersection of data, AI-enabled capabilities, and scalable technology delivery. You will work across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. Location: San Francisco, CA – US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $240,000 – $360,000 annually Responsibilities Lead threat modeling for AI agent features and integrations Maintain an evolving attacker playbook for AI agents Design and prototype security mitigation controls Collaborate with engineering teams to implement secure defaults in SDKs and APIs Build anomaly detection rules and behavioral analytics for identifying abuse Act as a subject‑matter expert in AI agent investigations and define response strategies Collaborate with legal and product teams for compliance and risk mitigation Qualifications 10+ years in cybersecurity, software engineering, or ML security with hands‑on experience Deep understanding of application/API security and modern authentication patterns Practical experience with LLMs/agents, including prompt engineering risks and mitigation Proven ability to lead cross‑functional technical initiatives Excellent communication skills for translating technical risks to various audiences Experience in a SaaS environment, particularly with customer support platforms Benefits Opportunities for professional development and growth Collaborative work environment with cross‑functional teams Exposure to cutting‑edge AI technologies and security practices Participation in industry forums and standard‑setting Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
