Field Technician

Field Technician Responsibilities Assist the field crew with field condition assessments and inspections of boilers, vessels, piping, steam turbines, and related critical components in the power, utility, chemical, food processing and paper mill industries. Frequent overnight out of town travel and operation across a variety of power and utility plants. General laboring duties (equipment set up, breakdown, tool gathering, etc.) Assist at the project site with field condition assessments. Assist at the project site with field inspections of various critical components. Operate various types of hand tools and power equipment. Perform other duties as assigned or required to support the team. This position frequently operates within a variety of power, chemical, food processing, paper mills and utility plants. The role entails frequent exposure to varying conditions: heat, cold, heights, dust, dirt, indoor, outdoor, and confined areas. May need to navigate uneven terrain. Physical Demands Lifting weight up to and over 50 lbs. in both a vertical and horizontal range of motion. Crawl, stoop, stand, reach (push/pull) & bend to perform necessary work. Able to ascend and descend on extension ladders, step ladders and stairs using feet and/or hands and arms. Able to drive a company vehicle and walk around at job sites. Computer input, typing and answering the phone. Clarity of vision at both over 20 feet and under 20 inches. Able to judge depth (distance & space relationships), have a good field of vision, and identify and distinguish colors. Adjustment of eye to bring object into sharp focus. Using oil or chemicals. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Regular and predictable attendance, the ability to safely perform tasks and adhere to the company's safety policies and procedures. Organized, self‑starter with the ability to work under pressure and conduct themselves professionally. Ability to effectively interact with employees from all levels within an organization. Ability to practice discretion and good judgment and maintain confidentiality. Field work in power plants or similar industrial facilities is a plus. Non‑Destructive Testing is a plus. Hands‑on work experience in welding, machining, construction or a similar trade is a plus. A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is a plus.
