Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel Occupational Therapist with at least 2 years of experience for a 13-week acute care hospital assignment, covering both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting serving both inpatient and outpatient populations
• Inpatient coverage includes general inpatient, rehab, and sub-acute units
• Outpatient coverage includes a freestanding ortho/sports medicine clinic and an additional clinic offering ortho, neuro, peds, and a lymphedema program
• Common inpatient diagnoses include spinal cord injuries, stroke, brain injuries, ortho, general medical, surgical, bariatrics, ICU, and cardiac cases; sub-acute unit includes vented and long-term patients
• Rehab unit is shared with PT and Speech Therapy
• No Rehab Aides, OTAs, or PTAs on unit
• 8-hour day shifts (8:00am–4:30pm), scheduled either Sun–Thu or Mon–Fri
• Weekend requirement: candidates will work either every Saturday or every Sunday
• Holiday coverage required on a rotation with permanent staff (typically one major and one minor holiday)
• Charting system: Cerner

Requirements

• Active OT license required; pending licenses will not be accepted (license required if applicable)
• Minimum 2 years of OT experience required
• Current BLS certification required; pending certifications not accepted
• Cerner EMR experience
• A copy of your driver's license is required for consideration
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, each including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Additional Information

• Candidates will be hired specific to inpatient or outpatient need; coverage area is determined at time of hire
• Swallow study experience is preferred for OT candidates, though it is noted to be a rare specialty for the profession
• Floor-specific orientation consists of 3 shifts
• Scrub/uniform requirement: facility-provided polo shirt with khaki or black pants
• 24/7 pharmacy available on-site
• Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates placed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
