Pay Range: $26.48/hr. - $38.40/hr.

Position Summary

The Phlebotomist is responsible for performing blood collection activities for the purpose of health assessment. The Phlebotomist also performs all activities, pre-analytic analysis, analytic analysis, and data management under the direction of a California Licensed Supervisor as defined in Chapter 3 of State of California Business and Professions Code.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

1.Following appropriate procedures and protocols, performs whole blood collection activities for the purpose of laboratory testing and health assessment.

2. Performs analytic functions where allowed by California Law.

3. Performs venipuncture and finger stick specimen collection activities from pediatric and/or neonatal patient population for the purpose of health assessment.

4. Ensures that equipment and safety devices are used appropriately following set guidelines.

5. Performs data management activities and documentation.

6. Performs other duties as assigned.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience:

• Previous experience performing venipuncture on hospital-based patient populations preferred

• Knowledge of specimen collection techniques, equipment, and specimen handling required.

• 4 years of experience in a pediatric setting required.

Education/Licensure/Certification:

• Current California Phlebotomy Certificate is required or eligible for certification.
