Staff Operations Program Manager

As an Operations Program Manager (OPM) at Boston Dynamics, you will lead cross functional programs and initiatives across our Operations organization. As a program leader, you will serve as the primary Operations counterpart to the Technical Program Manager (TPM), leading an “Operations Core Team”—including TechOps, Production Control, and Supply Chain—to bridge the gap between engineering development and scalable manufacturing. As an initiative leader, you will own planning and execution of complex projects to improve today and improve tomorrow. You will manage risks, resourcing, priorities, and schedules to balance the need for speed with scale readiness, identifying and correcting issues early to enable efficient scaling. If you are looking to work amongst colleagues who are collaborative, mission-driven, values-focused, and looking to have a positive impact on the world of robotics, come and join us!How you will make an impact:Lead an Operations Core Team: Align members and stakeholders to common program goals, ensuring team members feel heard, supported, and held accountable to expectations.Strategic Planning: Create and manage resource-loaded schedules, facilitating gap closure and steering resources toward commitments.NPI Program Build Execution & Oversight: Create and maintain build plans for NPI phases and spend time on the production floor (whether insourced or outsourced) to understand challenges, drive action, and resolve bottlenecks.Project Risk & Change Management: Proactively identify and resolve internal blockers and risks, while managing the implementation of change management within Operations.Decision Making: Make critical decisions on priority and reset expectations or approaches when needed to keep the program on track.Communication & Reporting: Synthesize performance, lessons learned, and highlights into debrief artifacts; effectively escalate risks to leadership and communicate across stakeholder teams.Process Improvement: Resolve problems by leaving behind permanent mechanisms and tools so that the same issues are not encountered in future phases or programs.You bring:BS or higher in Engineering or Technical Related Field (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, etc) or equivalent work experienceMinimum 5 years of experience in a program management role, managing multiple programs and schedules.Familiarity with mass manufacturing readiness and transferring production operations to new facilities.Experience in cross-functional NPI environments and associated change management in software, firmware, mechanical design, and electrical designPassion for problem solving and a drive to ask questions and understand the big picture while still being attentive to technical details.Strong communication skills and ability to distill complex technical information into concise, easily understood formats; presentations, white papers, and status updates.Proven capacity to leverage an array of project management tools, methodologies, and techniques throughout all phases of the product life cycle. This includes Google Suite, JIRA/Atlassian Products, JAMA, etc.Ability to see, understand, and articulate team priorities in support of overall company goals.Proven experience building sustainable processes within cross functional groups. Experience with fielded products involving equal complexity in software and hardware systems. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills. However, we are not able to sponsor visas for this position.The salary range for this position will be clearly stated in the job posting as required by Massachusetts law. The base pay range for this position is between $134,000 to $167,000. Base pay will depend on multiple individualized factors including, but not limited to internal equity, job related knowledge, skills and experience.
