About This Role

Our ideal candidate is great at both project management and fostering trusting relationships with families who is comfortable working independently.

Under the guidance of our Program Manager, you will help plan and run three week-long camp sessions. You will manage paperwork, track timelines, coordinate logistics, and make sure nothing slips through the cracks. We are seeking a candidate with experience successfully managing complex youth programs (or comparable experience) from start to finish. Being organized and detail-oriented is essential for success in this role.

In addition, you will be the first person most families hear from at Camp Casco. You will reach out to hospitals and clinics, help new and returning families enroll, and stay connected with them through their camp experience. The families we serve are going through one of the hardest things a family can go through, and it takes an incredible amount of trust for them to feel comfortable sending their child to camp. You must have direct experience building relationships with families in difficult or high-stress situations, through youth program management, in a clinical setting, a residential program, or comparable experience.

This is also a remote position on a small team. We support each other, but we don't micromanage. The right person takes ownership of their work, follows through without being reminded, and figures out what needs to happen next without waiting to be told.

What You'll Do

Family Outreach & Recruitment

• Reach out to pediatric oncology clinics and hospital programs to connect eligible families with Camp Casco
• Support new and returning families from enrollment all the way through their camp experience
• Build and maintain relationships with clinic and nonprofit partners

Family Communications

• Serve as the primary contact for families before, during, and after each camp
• Handle logistics, answer questions, and manage camper paperwork and documentation

Camp Design & Execution

• Participate in all planning meetings across all three camps
• Attend all three camp sessions in person each summer (each camp is one week long, typically June through August, and takes place in metrowest Massachusetts)

Storytelling & Content

• Collect stories and content at camp and throughout the year
• Draft and send newsletters regularly
• Create family-facing content in collaboration with the Programs Manager and CEO
• Support marketing and fundraising projects throughout the year, including camp recruitment, event promotion, and donor-facing content

Data & Reporting

• Collect and organize program data and documentation for grant and funder reporting
• Maintain accurate records across program systems

What We're Looking For

Must-haves:

• At least 2 years of experience in a role that involved both working directly with families or youth and managing programs or complex caseloads: child life specialists, residential camp program directors, family advocates, school counselors, youth program managers, or comparable backgrounds
• A clear track record of running youth programming successfully: on time, organized, and effectively
• Strong interpersonal skills: you are warm, you earn trust, and you can navigate difficult conversations and emotional situations with steadiness and care
• Comfort working in Google Workspace and the ability to learn new platforms independently; most of this job happens across digital tools
• Self-directed and comfortable working independently: you manage your own time, flag issues early, and don't need close supervision to stay on track

Helpful, but not required:

• Familiarity in settings related to pediatric oncology, serious illnesses and/or grief
• Experience with writing, storytelling, or content creation
• Familiarity with Mailchimp, Canva, or similar tools
• Bilingual in any language

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $56,000-58,000/year
• QSEHRA health benefit: $6,450/year toward individual health insurance premiums
• Mileage reimbursement at the IRS rate for all required driving
• 15 paid holidays/year
• 15 days PTO to start, increasing with tenure
• Flexible schedule

Schedule & Location

• Full-time, remote
• In-person attendance required for camps, clinic visits, family socials, and other key events throughout the year
• Must be within driving distance of the Boston/Metrowest area.
