Help evolve the BMO’s core cloud platform, leveraging emerging best practices and tools, securely connected to our strategic suppliers, providing a platform for innovation to an entire Bank.Responsibilities:Lead cloud architecture and designDefine and implement scalable, secure, and highly available Azure solutionsEstablish architecture patterns, standards, and best practices across teamsOwn end-to-end deliveryTranslate business requirements into technical solutions and architecture designsDrive solution implementation from concept to productionCloud platform engineering & automationDesign and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) modules using TerraformBuild reusable modules, landing zones, and enterprise-scale Azure environmentsDevOps & CI/CD leadershipDesign, implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions)Drive automation-first culture and continuous improvementSecurity, governance, and complianceImplement Azure security best practices (Zero Trust, RBAC, Defender for Cloud)Define and implement governance and policies frameworkEnsure compliance with regulatory and enterprise standardsPerformance, reliability, and cost optimizationArchitect for resilience (HA/DR strategies, multi-region designs)Monitor and optimize workload performance and Azure spend (FinOps practices)Mentorship and technical leadershipMentor junior and mid-level engineers and lead technical direction across projectsConduct design reviews, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing sessionsStakeholder engagementCollaborate with product owners, architects, and leadershipCommunicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholdersOperational excellenceDrive modernization initiativesDefine observability strategies using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application InsightsDrive incident response and root cause analysis for cloud core systemsRequired skills and experience:architect-level expertise and proven track of designing and implementing cloud strategies, defining standards, designing and implementing large-scale solutions in Azure;expert in IaC with a proven track record of developing complex modules and solutions end-to-end, from scratch (Terraform);Strong devops expertise, proven track of designing and building complex CI/CD pipelinesarchitect-level expertise in Policy as Code (PaC) strategy and implementation;expertise with design, implementation and running container infrastructure;expertise with design of operational processes for large scale Azure environmentsStrong programming skills (dev background) and fluency with at least one of the following languages: Python, node.js, java, c#, c++Strong knowledge and experience in setting up, securing, and managing public cloud infrastructure (Azure) at scaleSolid understanding and proven practical experience with Azure IAM/RBAC design and implementation at scaleDeep and broad knowledge of Azure IaaS/SaaS/PaaS services and experience building solutions in public cloudsStrong understanding and hands-on expertise in designing and running large scale cloud networkingDeep and broad general IT engineering knowledge as well as hands-on experience in different areas such as networking, infrastructure, security, solutions architecture and design, OS (Linux/Windows), common protocols and services, identity and access management, automation, troubleshooting, etc.Essential soft skills:Strong interpersonal and communication skillsA critical thinker with strong research and analytics skillsSelf-motivated with a positive attitude and ability to work independently and/or in a teamAble to work under tight timelines and deliver on complex problemsAbility to keep up with fast-paced enterprise environment within Agile processesSalary:$94,600.00 - $176,000.00Pay Type: SalariedThe above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
