Key Qualifications:

• Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated fluency
• Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in a school setting
• Ability to facilitate clear communication between students, educators, and staff
• Comfortable working one-on-one with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
• Strong understanding of confidentiality and professional boundaries
• Flexibility, adaptability, and a team-oriented attitude
• Certification or proof of credentials as required for interpreting in educational environments

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide direct, one-on-one interpretation services for a designated student during classes, school activities, and other educational settings
• Accurately convey spoken communication to ASL and vice versa, promoting active participation
• Support the student’s understanding of instructions, lessons, and peer interactions
• Collaborate with teachers and school staff to adapt communication strategies as needed
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of interpreting
• Stay informed of best practices and attend ongoing trainings as needed
