The Press Operator will work from blueprints, customer specifications, and production schedules, utilizing both written and verbal instructions. This position involves interacting with shop floor computer terminals to record time and production activities, as well as creating trays and pallets in specified sizes and quantities. Additionally, the Press Operator will be responsible for updating tags on containers, applying shipping labels, maintaining accurate counts on order packets, and moving completed or partial orders as directed by the supervisor.

Responsibilities include maintaining parts, material, and stock levels by conducting periodic surveys and replenishing as necessary. Pre-stage a variety of parts, tooling, and materials, and assist in changeover procedures. Assist operators with pallets and trays, move completed pallets to the stretch wrap machine, and supply empty pallets to packing areas. Perform special requirements on completed parts such as installing labels or individual boxing. Operate stretch wrap machines and other packaging devices. Exercise proper care in the use of tools, equipment, and materials. Process paperwork, labeling, and documentation based on work instructions, customer specifications, and quality audits. Complete required reports and notify supervision about faulty equipment, defective material, improper operations, and unusual conditions. Observe all prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain a neat and orderly work area.

Essential skills include 1+ year of manufacturing experience, comfortable standing for an 8-hour shift, comfortable lifting up to 30 lbs, experience building pallets, and experience printing labels and entering documentation into a computer. Additional skills and qualifications include overhead crane experience and wrapping machine experience.

The company recently added a 3rd shift due to increased demand and is fully staffed. The work environment is temperature-controlled and well-lit, and contractors can listen to their headphones while working. Only gym shoes are required. Candidates can bid on other opportunities from day 1, even as contractors, and after 90 days, they are hired into the union.

Work environment: The clean manufacturing environment produces parts for the air blowing industry, including HVAC units and industrial blower equipment. It is a union shop, and contractors are brought directly into the union after 90 days. The position is for the 2nd shift, from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM.

Job type and location: This is a contract to hire position based out of Cleveland, OH.

Pay and benefits: The pay range for this position is $24.62 - $25.85/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
