Join Pond & Company and be part of the team that's redefining the future of Architectural, Engineering, Planning, Construction Management, and Environmental projects!About the PositionWe are currently seeking an experienced Senior Piping Designer to support and help lead our growing Life Sciences team in Peachtree Corners, GA. The ideal candidate possesses 10+ years of industrial piping design experience and has a strong desire to lead projects, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the continued growth of our design team.In this position, the successful candidate will lead the design and layout of process and utility piping systems for clients across the United States while supporting multidisciplinary project teams and developing junior designers. Projects will span multiple markets and geographies, providing opportunities to broaden technical knowledge and deepen expertise across a wide range of industrial and Life Sciences facilities. We are seeking a self-motivated professional capable of independently leading piping design efforts while ensuring high-quality project execution.The ideal candidate for this position is located in the Atlanta, GA area to be in close proximity to our team. Remote candidates will be considered with the right skillset; a minimum quarterly trip to the Atlanta-area office will be expected in addition to the regular travel for this role.Experience and QualificationsAssociate's degree in Engineering Technology, Computer-Aided Drafting, Design Technology, or equivalent industry experience10+ years of relevant industrial experience in mechanical/piping drafting and designExpertise in industrial piping design and drafting standards, preferably in Process Industrial or Life Sciences facilitiesExperience designing complex process, utility, and facility piping systemsAdvanced proficiency with 2D AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, and RevitExperience with Navisworks for model review, clash detection, and multidisciplinary coordination is preferredKnowledge and application of piping supports, restraints, and coordination with structural engineeringWorking knowledge of piping flexibility, thermal expansion, and stress analysis principlesKnowledge of manual valve selection, sizing, application, and installation requirementsAbility to develop and revise P&IDs, General Arrangement (GA) drawings, piping plans, equipment layouts, and isometric drawingsExperience designing piping systems associated with pumps, tanks, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, control valve stations, and inline instrumentationFamiliarity with piping specifications, construction bulk materials, equipment installation details, and applicable industry standardsAbility to create accurate mechanical and piping installation documents utilizing information from vendor equipment drawings and specificationsAbility to develop complete piping layouts from P&IDs, process flow diagrams, equipment arrangements, and vendor documentationKnowledge and understanding of workflow and information exchange between Process, Mechanical, Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Architectural disciplinesKnowledge and understanding of schedule constraints and deliverable requirements necessary for successful project executionAbility to accurately estimate design effort, prioritize workload, and meet project schedulesKnowledge and application of company engineering, BIM, and CAD drafting standardsExperience leading piping design efforts from conceptual design through construction documentationExperience leading, mentoring, and coordinating a team of piping designers on multidisciplinary projectsExperience participating in design reviews, constructability reviews, and interdisciplinary coordination meetingsExperience performing quality reviews of piping deliverables prior to issuanceExperience supporting Design-Build and EPC project delivery is preferredExperience performing field walkdowns and verifying existing conditions is preferredSkilled in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and TeamsStrong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present technical information in formal client and project meetingsAbility to work independently with minimal supervision while mentoring junior designers and contributing to the continuous improvement of department standards and workflowsUp to 25% travel, increased travel to Peachtree Corners, GA headquarters (usually once per quarter) will be required for remote employeesAll Pond & Company positions require participation in at least one in-person interview as part of our hiring process, and most roles also require in-person onboarding at a Pond office location; candidates should expect to meet directly with our team and should be cautious of any communication suggesting otherwise.About Pond Pond is an award-winning, full-service architecture, engineering, planning, construction management, and environmental services firm providing professional solutions to clients throughout the U.S. and globally for nearly 60 years.
