This approach supports continual growth and development for our employees and stakeholders Summary/Objective: Reporting to the Director of Procurement, the Buyer will be responsible for source selection and procurement functions related to the detailing, fabrication, and field operations for various Patriot Erectors locations including DFW, Central Texas, Houston, and Trinity, Texas. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and/or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is occasionally required to lift; sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel or crouch. Because the employee may be required to lift and package bolts, they must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. The core operating hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours of work may change based upon the needs of the business. The position of Buyer requires occasional weekend work or additional daily hours as needed to support manufacturing schedules. - Secure and analyze supplier quotes.
- Generate purchase orders for raw steel materials, fasteners and pre-fabricated products from suppliers
- Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers.
- Organize and implement purchasing strategies with direction from the Director of Procurement.
- Study market prices and trends.
- Closely coordinate with Fabrication/Field Operations and Project Management to assure timely execution of product sourcing activities.
- Research and recommend suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery(schedule) competitiveness for assigned responsibilities.
- Coordinate the inventory control parameters for the assigned products.
- Assist in the resolution of product quality and delivery problems.

- Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 5 years plus experience in a steel manufacturing environment.
- 2 years of purchasing and material control experience in a steel manufacturing environment.

- Understand incremental delivery and the value of metrics and reporting.
- MS Office
- Tekla EPM (preferred)
- Excellent communication skills.

- Effectively write business correspondence.
