Senior Electrical Engineer (Construction Management)

Project: Construction Management Services for the NYC WWTP Headworks Improvements

Role Focus: Full-time Construction Management Electrical Inspection - Quality Control, and Construction Field Oversight

Position Purpose

The Senior Electrical Engineer provides comprehensive construction management, quality control, and on-site field oversight for critical infrastructure upgrades at the NYC WWTP. This role focuses on verifying that heavy industrial electrical installations—including power supplies for high-capacity Main Sewage Pumps (MSP), variable frequency drives, bypass pump-around setups, and plant-wide instrumentation—fully comply with contract drawings, technical specifications, and stringent municipal agency standards.

Core Responsibilities

•  Field Quality Control & Inspection: Perform rigorous, full-time on-site inspections of all electrical installation work, including heavy machinery wiring, power distribution units, conduits, and grounding infrastructure.

•  Pump & Drive Infrastructure Oversight: Monitor the removal and replacement of the six (6) Main Sewage Pumps (MSP), corresponding motor drives, and specialized ancillary equipment (flow meters, motorized valves, digital gauges, and telemetry instrumentation).

•  Pump-Around System Verification: Inspect the installation, testing, and continuous power supply configurations required for temporary pump-around infrastructure to safeguard plant operations during active renovations.

•  Drawing & Specification Compliance: Critically review field installations against Contract Drawings, approved submittals, and NYCDEP engineering specifications to proactively identify and resolve code or layout deviations.

• Submittal & Correspondence Management: Process, review, and organize contractor technical submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), change order technical validations, and formal project correspondence.

•  Field Reporting & Documentation: Compile detailed, accurate Daily Construction Reports documenting workforce headcounts, specific task progress, equipment arrival, ongoing testing parameters, and safety compliance metrics.

•  Sustainability & Environmental Compliance: Administer, track, and manage electrical sustainability requirements mandated by municipal regulations and contract provisions.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.

• Proven engineering experience focused heavily on heavy industrial electrical systems, water/wastewater facility construction, or large-scale municipal infrastructure upgrades.

• Demonstrated expertise interpreting complex electrical single-line diagrams, schematic layouts, control wiring blueprints, and technical construction specifications.

• Proficiency in construction administration workflows, including handling submittals, managing RFIs, and tracking material delivery approvals.

• Excellent technical writing capabilities with verified experience producing structured Daily Field Reports and formal inspection summaries.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior professional experience working directly on NYCDEP capital project initiatives or similar municipal environmental protection utility frameworks.

• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification.

• Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential.
