Position Overview

This position is part of a Float Pool within a leading pediatric acute care facility. The role involves caring for a diverse range of patients across various units, with a focus on pediatric medical and surgical nursing. The assignment is scheduled to start on November 9 and spans 13 weeks.

Shift Details

• Night Shift: 3x12 Hours (19:00 - 07:00)
• Day Shift: 3x12 Hours (07:00 - 19:00)

Holiday Requirements

Candidates must be available to work two of the following three holidays, including Eves:

• Thanksgiving
• Christmas
• New Year's

On-Call Requirements

This role requires candidates to be on-call, as necessary, to meet the needs of the facility.

Responsibilities

The Float Pool Nurse is expected to:

• Provide care for patients of all age ranges, with various acute care levels of acuity and diagnoses.
• Participate in a comprehensive orientation process across four different units, lasting a total of 4 shifts.
• Float among different departments as required, excluding critical care units.

Qualifications

• Two years of strong pediatric medical experience is required.
• Current California nursing license (or the pending license with an ETA for posting).
• Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are mandatory.
• Previous charge experience is preferred.

Patient Care Areas

The Float Pool Nurse will be involved in areas such as:

• Medical Unit: Focused on respiratory diseases, including severe asthma and pneumonia.
• Surgical Unit: Offers post-operative care for patients post-surgery.
• Hematology/Oncology Unit: Provides comprehensive care for patients with cancer and blood disorders.
• Medical Behavioral Unit: Supports patients with medical complications from severe malnutrition and pediatric eating disorders.

Unit Information

The facility features:

• A total daily census of approximately 250 patients.
• Interdisciplinary support teams, including physical therapy, social services, and pharmacy.
