Overview:

Responsibilities:
Draw blood samples from patients of all age groups, including pediatric and geriatric populations, following established procedures.
Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring accurate labeling and documentation in compliance with standardized practices.
Verify patient demographic information and obtain patient signatures post-venipuncture to ensure proper specimen identification.
Maintain a safe, clean, and professional environment, adhering to all safety protocols and health policies.
Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, explaining procedures and providing reassurance to create a positive experience.
Keep accurate records of all procedures, specimen labeling, and related documentation in accordance with organizational standards.
Work independently with limited supervision, demonstrating leadership behaviors, process excellence, and a high level of confidentiality.
Collaborate with healthcare team members and support staffing needs across different locations, including weekends, holidays, and after-hours as required.
Participate in training and continuing education opportunities to stay current with best practices in phlebotomy and laboratory procedures.
Required Skills:
Proven proficiency in venipuncture and capillary blood collection, including pediatric and geriatric patients.
Strong attention to detail to ensure error-free specimen collection and accurate documentation.
Excellent communication skills to build trust with patients and collaborate effectively with team members.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple priorities seamlessly.
Good judgment and decision-making capabilities, exercising discretion and confidentiality at all times.
Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license, particularly if travel between multiple locations is required.
Proficiency with keyboard and data entry systems for accurate record-keeping.
Nice to Have Skills:
Medical assistant or paramedic training.
Phlebotomy certification (preferred but not mandatory).
Prior experience in a patient service center or clinical laboratory setting, especially with pediatric and geriatric collections.
Knowledge of laboratory information systems and related software.
Customer service experience in retail or service industries focused on patient engagement.
Preferred Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
1-3 years of phlebotomy experience in a clinical setting, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
Two or more years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
Experience with multiple collection methods and high-volume specimen processing.
Other Requirements:
Flexibility to work variable hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts to meet operational demands.
Ability to travel between locations with minimal notice.
Physical ability to stand for extended periods, perform blood draws, and handle related equipment.
Must adhere strictly to all organizational policies, including safety protocols, dress code, and confidentiality standards.
Certification requirements vary by state; certifications are preferred and required in certain jurisdictions (e.g., California, Nevada, Washington).
