Registered Nurse – IMC / PCU / Stepdown (Telemetry Intermediate)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Every Other Weekend Required (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) | Every Other Holiday Required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 26-bed Telemetry Intermediate unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 or 1:5
• Monitor and manage patients with common diagnoses including CHF, COVID pneumonia, Afib with RVR, tachy/brady syndrome, and syncope
• Administer and monitor telemetry drips including Cardizem, Lasix, renal dopamine, and nitroglycerin under central telemetry monitoring by a dedicated monitor tech
• Operate and document within EPIC EMR ; nursing staff does not mix medications as 24/7 pharmacy support is available
• Manage patients on BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow oxygen, and Vapotherm (no ventilator management required)
• Participate in floating as expected of travelers, maintaining the same unit ratio of 1:5 on assigned float unit

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Ability to work every other weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) and every other holiday
• Must comply with a drug-free campus policy and produce a negative drug screen for all panels
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a telemetry, intermediate care, PCU, or stepdown setting
• Familiarity with central telemetry monitoring workflows
• Experience with EPIC EMR
• Comfort managing patients on BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow/Vapotherm respiratory support
