Senior Principal Software Engineer - APNT (Onsite)

Senior Principal Software Engineer – APNT (Onsite) Location: Cedar Rapids, IA Security Clearance: DoD Secret required. Responsibilities Lead and execute software development in collaboration with subject matter experts for real‑time embedded navigation and timing solutions. Build and mentor a high‑performing software team focused on growth in technical and process excellence. Drive modernization of the software development life cycle through Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) initiatives. Provide project execution management, including detailed planning, cost account management, status reporting, and active participation in software/system design and implementation. Maintain agile practices, facilitating sprint ceremonies, user story refinement, product demos, and retrospectives. Communicate progress and issues to stakeholders and lead disciplined root‑cause analysis for technical challenges. Lead bid and planning processes for software engineering projects. Qualifications & Experience Minimum 10 years of relevant experience with a STEM degree, or 7 years of relevant experience with an advanced degree. Must be eligible for, and capable of maintaining, a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance. Strong understanding of navigation and timing systems, with a track record of architecting and delivering embedded software solutions. Proven leadership in complex, cross‑functional engineering environments. Skills & Knowledge Experience with GPS and/or antenna electronics development. Expertise in Assured Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (APNT) project bidding, budgeting, scheduling, and scope management. Fluency with Scaled Agile Framework and DevSecOps practices. Software development proficiency in C, C++, and Python. Familiarity with CI/CD tooling such as Docker, Artifactory, GitLab pipelines.
