Job Title: Full-Time Firefighter /EMT-Basic (Paramedic Preferred)

Fort Bend County Emergency Services District No. 2 (“District”) is seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of Full-Time Firefighter

The Willowfork Fire Department, under the guidance and support of Fort Bend County Emergency Services District No. 2 operates out of three (3) stations, staffing three (3) pumpers, a tower, and a Battalion Chief. We are currently staffed with seventeen (17) firefighters on duty at all times. In 2024 the department served approximately seventy-five thousand (75,000) people and responded to over two thousand, six hundred (2,600) calls for assistance.

EMS service is provided by Fort Bend County EMS who staffs a medic unit at Station 1 and Station 3 with an EMS Battalion Chief located at Station 2. The Willowfork Fire Department responds as first responder to EMS calls and works alongside EMS providing quality patient care.

Responsibilities:

The Full-Time Firefighter will be assigned to work twenty-four (24) hour shifts, working a 48/96 schedule. The Full-Time Firefighter will be responsible for responses to Fire and Emergency Medical Incidents, public education programs, pre-fire plan surveys, fire station maintenance, and fire apparatus maintenance.

Duties:

• Observe and follow safety rules and regulations including wearing safety apparel and devices during the course and scope of job-related duties.
• Report for duty on time and able to perform all job tasks.
• Observe and follow the District’s Policies and Standard Operating Guidelines (“SOG’s”)
• Treat sick or injured patients with dignity and respect.
• Perform all duties related to fire rescue, including connecting and carrying fire hoses, carrying, and setting up ladders, directing water and chemicals on burning structures, vegetation, vehicle, and other objects.
• Ventilate buildings and conduct salvage operations. MUST maintain physical fitness to perform all duties.
• Rescue persons trapped in vehicles, burning buildings, and other structures.
• Operate and drive emergency vehicles and equipment and may be required to ride in charge of fire apparatus in the absence of an Officer, or at other times as necessary and required by the Fire Chief or his designee.
• Inspect equipment and supplies daily in order to ensure that all emergencies can be handled. Restock supplies.
• Clean apparatus and equipment and the Stations.
• Attend and complete all training as required.
• Assist with fire prevention, Home Safety Surveys and other customer service-based expectations as defined by District.
• Complete records of work performed and submits reports to the appropriate personnel.
• Maintain regular required attendance and required certifications.
• Report to work on time and prepared to perform daily tasks.
• Report to work free from the effects of illegal drugs or alcohol, and reports to work free from impairment due to prescription drugs.
• Attendance at work is an essential function of this position.

Requirements/Qualifications:

• Shall possess a current certification as a Basic firefighter by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (“TCFP”).
• Hold minimum current certification as an EMT-Basic by the Texas Department of Health and Services.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Must be able to read, write and fluently speak English. Bilingual a plus.
• Must have NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800 certifications.
• Pass an entrance medical examination provided by the district.
• Pass a drug test.
• Pass District Physical Ability Test (“PAT”).
• High School Diploma or GED (associate degree preferred).
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be a US Citizen by birth or naturalization or permanent resident.Starting Wage:

Firefighter/EMT $21.90 per hour ($67,868 annually) including scheduled FLSA OT, paid bi-weekly.

Firefighter/Paramedic Up to 5-year lateral transfer from your current full-time TCFP fire department. ($72, 299.00- $86,617.00 DOQ)
