Job order - J0426-2544 - Permanent Full Time Title: Cloud Consultant (SME) Category: Analytics and Emerging Digital Technologies City: Fairfax, Virginia, United States Overview We are seeking an experienced Cloud SME (Subject Matter Expert) Consultant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned technology professional with a deep understanding of cloud computing strategies, implementation, and optimization. As a Cloud SME Consultant, you will play a critical role in advising our clients on their cloud journey, ensuring that their business needs are met with scalable and efficient cloud solutions. This position is located in our Fairfax, VA office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable. Responsibilities Cloud Strategy Development: Collaborate with clients to assess business needs and develop comprehensive cloud computing strategies aligned with organizational goals. Solution Design: Design scalable and secure cloud solutions tailored to meet specific client requirements, ensuring optimal performance and cost-effectiveness. Implementation Oversight: Lead and oversee the implementation of cloud solutions, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in accordance with best practices. Cloud Optimization: Continuously evaluate and optimize existing cloud environments to enhance performance, security, and cost-efficiency. Strategic Guidance: Provide expert strategic guidance to clients on cloud adoption, helping them navigate complexities and make informed decisions. Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with client stakeholders to understand needs, address concerns, and ensure successful cloud adoption and integration. Industry Best Practices: Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in cloud computing, incorporating knowledge into client engagements. Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field. May substitute by at least 5 years of relevant professional experience. Experience: Minimum 10 years of progressive IT experience, including at least 4 years in cloud strategy, cloud transformation leadership, or enterprise cloud adoption initiatives. Relevant Experience Includes: Leading large-scale cloud migration and transformation projects across hybrid and multi-cloud FedRamp environments; Advising on cloud strategy, governance, security, and financial optimization; Deep technical understanding of IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and serverless technologies; Hands‑on expertise with AWS, Azure, GCP, and OCI; Engaging senior stakeholders; Delivering executive‑level briefings and transformation roadmaps. Desired Qualifications (Non-essential): Cloud certifications from major providers such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect Professional, ITIL v4 Foundation, TOGAF or other frameworks. Compensation and Benefits Compensation range (U.S.): $89,600.00 – $218,200.00.
