Staff Accountant - Audit

Staff AuditorA Staff Auditor should be able to work independently, complete work accurately and in a timely manner, and establish workload priorities. In addition, a Staff Auditor should contribute to a team environment, assisting those around them. This role supports audit engagements through planning, risk assessment, testing, documentation, and client deliverables while continuing to develop technical accounting and auditing knowledge.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop knowledge of GAASParticipate in audit engagement file organization and documentationWork with the engagement team during assessment of audit risk, planning, and design of audit proceduresUnderstand and utilize the firm's audit methodologyPrepare and perform substantive testing on clients' balance sheets and income statementsObtain an understanding and assessment of clients' internal controls and make recommendations for improvement through the risk assessment processAudit more simplistic areas and transactions and assist with preparing client deliverable reportsIdentify and communicate accounting and auditing issues to Seniors, Managers, and PartnersAssist in identifying and improving performance on engagementsEnsure professional development through active continuing professional educationParticipate in firm-wide initiatives, including recruitmentKey AccountabilitiesAudit engagement files are organized and documented accurately and completelyAssigned audit procedures and testing are completed accurately and in a timely mannerAudit methodology and professional standards are consistently followedAccounting and auditing issues are appropriately identified and communicated to engagement leadershipInternal control observations and recommendations are documented through the risk assessment processKey Results / ExpectationsWorks independently while appropriately prioritizing workload and meeting deadlinesContributes positively to the engagement team and supports teammates as neededDemonstrates developing knowledge of GAAP and GAAS through engagement participationSuccessfully performs substantive testing and completes assigned audit sectionsMaintains effective communication with clients, staff, managers, and partnersDemonstrates reliability and a positive attitude in the working environmentSkill / Knowledge RequirementsUnderstanding of audit services with developing knowledge of GAAP and GAASStrong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to communicate with clients, staff, managers, and partnersDemonstrated experience or ability to act as in-charge on audit sectionsReliable with a positive attitude toward the working environmentProfessional Experience Requirements0-3 years of current or recent public accounting experience providing financial statement auditing servicesBachelor's degree in Accounting or similar fieldCPA license or demonstrated progress toward obtaining a CPA license, including required courseworkCompensation & BenefitsThe total rewards package at Current includes base salary and benefits.
