Job Overview Position Title: Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) Location: Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, TX – Fort Sam Houston, TX 78234 Employment Type: Full‑time Duties Provide all necessary dosimetry support for the aid of the treatment with the radiation oncologist, obtaining patients contours, registering different image sets with Velocity when appropriate, determining the volumes to be treated, marking the patient, and other routine services as required. Participate with the radiation oncologist in localizing the treatment volume, appropriately immobilizing the patient, and providing dose distributions (isodose plans). Verify treatment parameters, including field size, SSD/SAD, points of interest, dose per fraction, total dose, wedges, and blocks, by an independent calculation and enter such data on the printout; sign the printout before placement in the patient chart. Provide treatment plans to the responsible radiation oncologist for approval before implementation. Work with the radiation oncologist and medical physicist in planning low‑dose‑rate (LDR) and high‑dose‑rate (HDR) implant procedures, request the sources, prepare them for use, load the applicators, cut the ribbons to the correct length, and ensure the safe use of the sources in compliance with regulations. Qualifications Education & Certification Graduate from an accredited college or university certified by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant (ARC‑PA). Certified by the American Association of Medical Dosimetrists (AAMD) as a Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD). Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) as a Radiation Therapy Technologist (RTT). Maintain a current, active, valid and unrestricted license from the Texas Medical Board. Experience Minimum five (5) years of recent clinical dosimetry experience in 3D treatment planning, including IGRT and IMRT techniques, under the supervision of a board‑certified medical physicist (MP). Experience performing both hand‑based and computer‑based monitor unit (MU) calculations. Clinical experience with total body photon irradiation (TBI), low‑dose‑rate (LDR) brachytherapy, high‑dose‑rate (HDR) brachytherapy, volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), image‑guided radiotherapy (IGRT), surface‑guided radiotherapy (SGRT), stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), and real‑time position management (RPM). Experience planning and implementing LDR brachytherapy for prostate applications and HDR brachytherapy for prostate (≥18 catheters) and gynecologic applications. Proficiency with Varian Aria, Varian Eclipse, Varian Varisix, Velocity, and Oncentra treatment planning systems. Experience entering and transferring patient prescriptions and treatment parameters into Varian Eclipse and Aria remote access terminals. Familiarity with national clinical trial protocols (RTOG, SWOG, NRG Oncology, COG, Alliance) and their dosimetry requirements. Experience with standard and virtual simulation techniques and image fusion (PET, MR, CT) for tumor and normal tissue localization. Experience with Varian Radiotherapy Linear Accelerators (MLC, EPID, IMRT, IGRT) and performing basic quality assurance under the direction of a medical physicist. Experience as a contract dosimetrist in a Department of Defense clinical facility that sees emergency room patients and in national clinical trial networks. #J-18808-Ljbffr
