Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a high acuity Surgical ICU position requiring transplant recovery experience and a compact or Louisiana RN license

Details

• Work in a high acuity Surgical ICU (SICU) within a hospital setting
• Care for post-surgical recovery patients including transplant recovery for liver, heart, lung, kidney, and pancreas
• Also supports CVICU patients including post-op CABG, valve replacement/repair, and aortic dissection cases
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 AM - 7:15 PM)
• Floating required to other ICUs and Step-Down Units (SDUs)
• No call-in requirement
• No block scheduling requests accommodated
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active RN license (Compact or Louisiana) in hand upon submission
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), all AHA-issued
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in SICU specialty required
• Required experience with transplant recovery: liver, heart, lung, kidney, and/or pancreas
• Experience with Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT/CVVHD) required
• Experience with post cardiac surgery patients coming directly from the OR required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Preferred experience with PA catheters and intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP)
• Up-to-date NURSYS report required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to high acuity surgical and transplant recovery patients
• May be assigned to an emergency response team during declared emergency events, which could require remaining onsite until relief arrives
• Must reside more than 65 miles from the facility to be eligible for this travel position
• Two Manager/Supervisor references (not Charge RN) required prior to starting the contract, though not required for initial consideration
• RTO must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process
• Orientation is held five days per week
• Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors at this health system must have a one-year separation before returning as a travel RN
• First-time travelers will not be considered given the travel experience requirement
