Tax Experienced Associate, Core Tax Services

Job Summary The Tax Experienced Associate, Core Tax Services utilizes educational background, communication, and organizational skills to prepare tax returns and conduct research. The role focuses on basic research and using tax software to complete simple tax returns for review. Job Duties Tax Compliance Ensure clients comply with applicable authorities while minimizing their tax and reporting burdens, and ensure that staff comply with firm policies and the BDO Tax Quality Manual. Apply client‑specific circumstances and documentation to prepare required filings using a review and documentation system. Collect all data needed to meet filing requirements and communicate missing items to prepare the return. Utilize firm compliance software to maximize efficiency in the tax preparation process. Collaborate with senior staff to complete projects (follow up with open items list). Document all significant tax positions. ASC 740 (FAS 109 and FIN 48) Tax Accruals Apply firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual regarding FAS 109 and FIN 48. Assist with the preparation and/or review of income tax provisions. Tax Consulting Assist with developing, recommending, and implementing methods to maximize client benefits, especially by reducing current and future taxes. Apply knowledge of corporate, partnership, and individual tax structures and filing requirements. Draft clear and concise memorandums and correspondence. Identify potentially relevant tax issues or opportunities during the compliance process. Supervisory Responsibilities N/A Other Duties as Required N/A Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or statistics (or a related field) and CPA certification (or eligibility to sit the CPA exam) required. Master’s in accountancy or taxation preferred. One year of relevant tax experience, public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services preferred. CPA, Attorney (U.S. jurisdiction), or IRS Enrolled Agent (EA) preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with tax research databases and tax compliance process software preferred. Solid oral and written communication skills. Ability to follow instructions and prepare simple tax returns. Proactive problem‑solving and initiative. Seek advice from superiors when encountering compliance issues.
