Patient Access Rep PRN - Community Health Job Summary: The Patient Access Representative (PAR) PRN greets patients and performs patient access functions to expedite patient flow and enhance the patient experience. The PAR PRN is responsible for the registration of all patients’ accessing services at JPS Health Network with emphasis on patient access/satisfaction, insurance/demographic verification and accuracy, and point of service collection, while maintaining confidentiality, professionalism and ethics continuously. Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities Greets and directs patients and visitors in person and over the phone using AIDET principles and provides information regarding services, location and additional assistance. Accurately identifies patients and registers them in the JPS database, ensuring timely and accurate reporting/billing. Explains and secures consent for all registration forms including general consent, MSPQ, privacy notice, patient rights and MyChart enrollment. Distributes patient materials and obtains signatures on insurance waivers and other financial forms such as Estimate Letters. Collects patient cost‑sharing amounts (copays, deductibles, coinsurance, self‑pay) in accordance with Standard Operating Procedure and reconciles the cash drawer at shift end. Obtains pre‑certification status for applicable services such as procedures, surgeries, radiology, cardiology and physician or pharmacy services. Utilizes insurance verification tools to verify patients’ insurance/financial information and maintains an error rate in line with Standard Operating Procedure. Coordinates and schedules appointments, selects appropriate referral, provider, visit type and location to expedite access, minimize no‑shows and maximize reimbursement. Maintains the daily Epic work queue, quality assurance and productivity levels with minimal errors (e.g., daily in‑basket review, telephone encounters, reporting and cash balancing). Provides high‑quality care by following JPS Health Network’s attendance and punctuality procedures and may be required to work beyond normal scheduled shifts. Attends all mandatory educational, compliance and safety program sessions. Assists in training staff, peers, colleagues and management as requested. Demonstrates dedication to patient/customer satisfaction through friendly and caring interactions and proactive communication. Performs other duties as assigned; works with or without assistive/adaptive devices and reasonable accommodations. Completion of Patient Access – General Consent Orientation and Patient Financial Experience Training if assigned to ED, Urgent Care, Specialty, Business Services, Main Admissions & Auths., or Women’s Health (within 30 days of hire). OR 3–5+ years of relevant work experience. 1+ year of experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Completion of Patient Access – General Consent Orientation and Patient Financial Experience Training if assigned to ED, Urgent Care, Specialty, Business Services, Main Admissions & Auths., or Women’s Health (within 30 days of hire). Preferred Qualifications 1+ year of experience in a Patient Access/Accounting role. Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA). Bilingual in Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic or other language.
