Position Summary

The Funeral Director & Embalmer is responsible for assisting families with funeral arrangements, preparing decedents for visitation and services, coordinating all aspects of funeral operations, and providing compassionate guidance throughout the funeral process. The ideal candidate is professional, dependable, detail-oriented, and passionate about serving others.

Responsibilities

• Meet with families to arrange funeral, memorial, cremation, and graveside services.
• Prepare decedents through embalming, restorative art, dressing, cosmetology, and casketing.
• Coordinate services with clergy, cemeteries, crematories, florists, musicians, and other vendors.
• Conduct funeral and memorial services with professionalism and compassion.
• Complete all required legal documents, permits, death certificates, and related paperwork accurately and timely.
• Maintain preparation room standards and ensure compliance with all OSHA, state, and federal regulations.
• Participate in an on-call rotation for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Assist with visitation setup, funeral service preparation, and post-service follow-up.
• Maintain funeral home vehicles, equipment, and facilities in a clean and professional manner.
• Build lasting relationships within the community through outstanding customer service.

Qualifications

• Current Funeral Director and Embalmer license (or ability to obtain licensure in our state).
• Graduate of an accredited mortuary science program.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to lift and move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to remain calm, compassionate, and professional in emotionally sensitive situations.
• Proficiency with funeral home management software is preferred but not required.
