The clinician‑educator will support the inpatient and outpatient clinical practice in neurology within an academic setting. The successful candidates will practice at UCR and/or UCR‑affiliated clinical facilities in Riverside and surrounding areas, including UCR clinics, affiliated hospitals, and the UCR Multiple Sclerosis Program, which is designated by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society as a comprehensive multiple sclerosis care center. Fellowship training in neuroimmunology / multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular neurology, epilepsy or another subspecialty is preferred but not required. Applicants must hold an M.D., D.O. or equivalent; be eligible to practice in California; be board certified or board eligible with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology; and have at least two years of post‑residency practice from an accredited residency program. Medical staff privileges at UCR Health and affiliated hospitals are required. Current work authorization is required; UCR does not sponsor visas. Requirements Educational Requirements Must possess an M.D., D.O. or equivalent degree. (Required) Experience Requirements Minimum of two years of practice post residency training. (Required) Fellowship training in neuroimmunology / multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular neurology, epilepsy, or another subspecialty. (Preferred) License Requirements Legal requirements for practice of medicine in California. (Required) Maintenance of California Medical License. (Required) DEA prescribing number. (Required) Certification Requirements BLS certification prior to beginning employment. (Required) Valid certificate issued by American Medical Specialty Board as a specialist in Neurology or related field. (Required) Minimum Requirements Qualify for medical staff privileges at UCR Health and affiliated hospitals. (Required) Eligible to practice in California by time of employment. (Required) Ability to work effectively with staff and patients from diverse ethnic/racial backgrounds, educational levels, sexual orientations, and identities. (Required) Stay abreast of new medical knowledge, maintain and increase expertise as relevant. (Required) Work independently under general direction and collaboratively with others. (Required) Advanced communication and interpersonal skills. (Required) Strong background in clinical practice, clinical teaching, and managed care. (Required) Key Responsibilities Provide specialty direct patient care in neurology, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, referrals, care planning, medication orders, risk assessment, and discharge planning. Maintain ongoing communication with community primary care physicians and other healthcare team members. Conduct day‑to‑day patient contact/rounding, encouraging professional input from all members of the patient care team. Accurately complete all clinical and professional records and documentation to comply with regulatory, licensure, and accreditation requirements. Instruct residents, interns, and students in a designated specialized medical service (if applicable). Communicate directly with patient family members and advocates to ensure effective communication of patient status and care plans, fostering a supportive environment.
