Maintenance OperatorMember of a rotating shift working under the direction of a Plant Supervisor. Responsible for performing operating functions which includes monitoring and operating power plant equipment, is knowledgeable in power plant systems, starting and stopping equipment, isolating and safety tagging equipment for maintenance activities, and monitoring water chemistry. Responsible for performing routine operator rounds and performing lubrication to plant rotating equipment as required. Is familiar with plant environmental procedures and ensure units operate within specifications. Operate and maintain units while maintaining a high level of Safety, Reliability, Efficiency and cost. Work through Operational Skills Development Plan to gain specific knowledge of plant equipment and progress through Maintenance Operator levels up to Operations Technician, Plant Technician (Instrumentation, Controls and Electrical Skills), or Plant Technician (Mechanical Skills).Responsible for performing operating functions which includes continuous monitoring of equipment, operating valves, understanding power plant systems, starting and stopping of equipment, isolating and restoring equipment for maintenance following a Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) procedure and monitoring boiler water chemistryUses elementary principles of mechanical measuring devices, instruments, controls, and regulating devices as used in generating plantsTroubleshoot, identify, and make repairs to the plant equipment including performing preventative maintenance tasksApplies knowledge and experience with principles of operation and function of steam boilers, turbo generators, pumps, heaters, steam traps, piping systems, pressure and level regulators and their controls, and auxiliary systemsKnowledgeable in and complies to environmental rules and regulationsKnowledgeable in and follows safety policies, practices and proceduresParticipate in the Monthly Safety Meeting, and open to participation on the Safety Committee or the Awareness TeamPerforms preventative maintenance activities which include simple electrical, instrument and mechanical work/inspection and repairInterface / communicate with internal and external organizations/customers (dispatchers, directors, contractors, etc.)During unit outages or other emergent work, step-up to Temporary Supervisor or Contract Administrator position with responsibility for other employees and/or contractors to provide contractor management, quality control, cost management and schedule managementWork a rotating shiftWork overtime at times when shift coverage is required due to unexpected circumstancesBe willing and able to work under unusual as well as normal working conditions pertaining to a power plant environmentMinimum Education:High school diplomaDesired:Process Technology/Instrumentation college degree or equivalent work experienceMinimum Experience:0 - 2 years of experience in an operations or similar field, or entry level with a background in Process Technology or InstrumentationMinimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of the elementary principles of mechanical measuring devices, instruments, controls, and regulating devices as used in steam electric plantsKnowledge of the principles of operation and function of steam boilers, turbo-generators, pumps, heaters, steam traps, piping systems, pressure and level regulators and their controls, and auxiliary systemsThe ability to lift 100 lbsThe ability to lift and carry 50 lbsThe ability to climb scaffolds, stairs and laddersMust be Team Oriented and Self-MotivatedMust possess the initiative to perform task independently, provide timely and concise feedback upon requestPossess a winning attitude to achieve Departmental, Plant and Corporate GoalsShould possess basic computer knowledge to obtain the required skills needed to use the Entergy Fossil Applications Time and Labor (Electronic Timesheet Application) and AIMM (Maintenance Management System)Power plant and or maintenance experienceEquipment operation experienceAny certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position:Successful completion of the EEl POSS/MASS testCandidates selected to take the EEI POSS/MASS test will be invited via email.
