About Repair the World Orange County

Repair the World provides volunteers  with an increased connection to meaningful Jewish service and learning, deepening their connection to Jewish community and peoplehood, building bridges with local nonprofit partners by meeting pressing needs that help meet their missions, and building bridges across lines of difference.

Newly launched this year, Repair the World Orange County will serve as a new hub engaging more than 2,000 young Jews and their peers each year in service addressing food insecurity, homelessness, educational inequity, and other community needs. In partnership with the Merage JCC and a network of local service and Jewish organizations, Repair will mobilize volunteers through ongoing Jewish service programs. Repair’s Service Corps mobilizes young adults to meet community needs through part-time, time-bound Jewish service. Young adults, ages 18–39, serve directly with local partners, learn about  social change, local context for their service, and engage in meaningful Jewish learning sessions with  their peers. Through pairing service with Jewish learning, Repair provides an entry-point to Jewish life for Jewish young adults who may not be traditionally engaged with the broader Jewish community.

Position Overview

Repair is seeking a dynamic and strategic inaugural Director to lead the launch and growth of the Orange County hub. This leader will be responsible for the strategic direction, programmatic excellence, and sustainable growth of Repair’s presence in Orange County. They will champion Repair’s mission locally and will expand our reach by cultivating strong community connections and engaging diverse Jewish audiences in impactful service.

The City Director will build and sustain partnerships with local Jewish and service organizations, manage the annual programming calendar, lead Service Corps cohorts and engage Repair alumni to mobilize their peers in ongoing service and learning. They will be a talented experienced experiential Jewish educator, who is deeply committed to maintaining and strengthening community collaborations.

This is a full-time, exempt position based in Orange County, CA and reporting to a Senior Director of Community Impact. The schedule will vary each week based on programs and engagement opportunities on evenings and weekends. The County Director must have a flexible schedule.

Position Responsibilities

Program Strategy & Execution:

• Develop local program strategy, build and execute calendar of service opportunities which includes: 
• Oversight of Service Corps, Repair the World’s immersive service experience, as well as a Service Ambassador program, which empowers young Jewish adults to facilitate meaningful service for their peers in community 
• Develop and deepen partnerships with the Jewish community and local non-profit service partners
• Regularly facilitate service projects which include hands-on service, issue area education, meaningful Jewish learning and reflection.
• Oversight of recruitment for all programs 

Management and Supervision:

• Supervise program staff (one direct report) and key partnerships.
• Coordinate with team on program goals, share updates, troubleshoot challenges, provide feedback and foster collaboration.

Fundraising & Stakeholder Engagement:

• Serve as the primary relationship manager for Orange County-based donors, providing thoughtful stewardship, impact updates, and meaningful opportunities for engagement.
• Collaborate with national teams to support fundraising efforts, playing an important role in working towards achieving 75% locally-designated funding. This includes building local awareness for Repair’s impact, sharing Repair the World’s story with key stakeholders, supporting stewardship of a local Advisory Council programmatically, and identifying and engaging local funders and prospects in partnership with additional Repair colleagues.
• Attend key community events, and represent Repair the World at external networking and recruitment events to build the organization’s visibility and impact in the community.
• Represent Repair the World in meetings, events, and convenings with donors, foundations, and community partners across the Orange County region.
• Contribute to building a culture of philanthropy locally by integrating donors into service experiences, learning opportunities, and community events.

Operations Management:

• Build and execute communications strategy, to build local brand awareness, and program presence, including reviewing materials such as newsletters, social media posts, and website content, ensuring that they align with the organization’s messaging and goals.
• Liaise with national communications and data teams to review and analyze program data, ensuring that metrics and impact assessments are being captured accurately.
• Manage local budget through financial planning and reporting.

Requirements :

• 5+ years of Experience: Including a track record of:
• Building Jewish community
• Supervision and coaching
• Facilitation of groups, meetings, and trainings
• Orange County Jewish community knowledge and network: Deep familiarity with the Orange County Jewish communal landscape

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation at Repair the World is based on the salary band for the role and cost of living for the location. The starting salary for this full-time, exempt role is $85,000-$100,000 dependent on experience. Benefits package includes paid time off for service in addition to vacation, sick time, personal days and holidays. Employer covers 100% of full-time employee’s health premiums (medical/dental/vision) for most plans and 50% for dependents. Additional benefits include retirement matching, professional development funds, employer-paid short and long term disability coverage plus access to the Jewish Learning Collaborative and our Economic Access Fund. In addition, employees that have been with Repair for at least six months are eligible for 16 weeks of paid parental leave (pro-rated for employees with Repair less than 6 months). This position is not included in Repair’s staff union-represented collective bargaining unit.

• Second round interview with the Senior Director of Community Impact and Senior Director of National Expansion Strategy. 
• Third round interview with a member of Repair’s Executive Team.
• Finalists will interview in-person with a member of the Leadership Team.
• All finalists will need to provide three professional references.
