Summary The Senior Accountant applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by performing the following duties: Primary responsibility is monitoring Balance Sheet Prepaid Assets, Fixed Assets, Lease Accounting and Accrued Liabilities in addition assist with Period End Close. Prepaid Period Account Analysis on Specific Assets and Accrued Liabilities accounts. Track Prepaid, Intangible and Fixed Assets on weekly bases, verify proper posting to General Ledger, that they meet the Company policies and procedures. Monitor Accrued Liabilities. Work in conjunction with the Budget and Accounts Payable team on all accruals verifying accuracy and reporting. Monitor lease agreements and prepare rent schedules. Work with tax team on property tax returns. Monitor and Audit Company Fixed Assets. Review Purchase Orders for Repair & Maintenance to proper classify expenditures. Reconcile Equipment in Inventory. Reconcile and prepare journal entries for Prepaid asset and intangible amortization. In addition, Period depreciation for all fixed assets. Assist with analyzing Balance Sheet Accounts on period basis and report on variances to last period balance. Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls. Other projects as assigned. Qualifications/Skills Bachelor's or higher degree in Accounting or Finance. Strong understanding of accounting theory and practice. CPA designation preferred, but not required. 3-5+ years accounting/finance experience. Experience in the retail or restaurant industry preferred. Highly detail oriented and organized in work. Ability to meet assigned deadlines. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus. Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives. Proficiency with email and Microsoft Office applications especially with Excel lookup and pivot tables. Experience with Great Plains or equivalent and Sage Fixed Asset programs. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results.
