Product Specialist

ShopData

: Product Specialist

: Fully Remote (domestic & international travel required)

: ShopData | Henning (Valstone Portfolio)

|

ShopData Systems has been a leading provider of industrial nesting and CAD-CAM sheet metal fabrication software for over 50 years, supporting manufacturers and fabricators across HVAC, structural steel, and general fabrication. Following its January 2026 merger with Henning Software — provider of Visual EstiTrack™, an ERP platform built for job shops, fabricators, and sheet metal manufacturers — the combined business now serves 3,000+ clients across Canada, the USA, Mexico, and Europe.

ShopData | Henning is a Valstone company. Valstone is an industrial software conglomerate that acquires and operates mission-critical software businesses across agriculture, logistics, food processing, bulk materials, and manufacturing — with 19 acquisitions completed and a long-term, buy-and-hold approach to building businesses, not exiting them. Valstone is part of the Valsef Group, alongside Valsoft (130+ acquisitions, $3B+ valuation), Permanent Corp, Valnet, and Valsef Capital.

This is a hands-on, individual-contributor role as the subject matter expert on ShopData software — splitting time across onsite customer training, virtual training, and technical support. Onsite engagements run 3–4 days for small groups of 1–5 attendees, delivered from the customer's office to the shop floor; virtual sessions are shorter and workflow-specific, often several a day. Between engagements, this person works tickets from the organization queue, owning escalated cases across audiences that range from machine operators and programmers to estimators, shop management, and IT.

You're a road warrior who teaches — as comfortable on a shop floor as on a web session, able to read a room of mixed-skill operators and adjust on the fly, and happier solving it onsite than trading emails about it. Industry knowledge isn't required on day one — the ability to learn it fast, work independently, and leave every customer better at the software is.

&

  • Deliver onsite and virtual training tailored to each customer's workflow, adjusting depth and language across mixed-skill audiences
  • Conduct pre-engagement discovery to scope onsite sessions ahead of travel
  • Develop and maintain training materials, guides, and documentation; build onboarding tracks and refresher content

&

  • Work tickets from the organization queue during non-training time
  • Own escalated cases from Support Engineers and cases requiring advanced product investigation and user training
  • Route code-level issues to the Lead Engineer with full context, test solutions when provided, and facilitate customer delivery

&

  • Document solutions and workarounds in the knowledge base; surface recurring issue patterns to product and support
  • Stay current on releases and new capabilities
  • Maintain ticket notes, time logging, and trip documentation

  • Minimum 2 years delivering software training onsite at customer facilities
  • Minimum 3 years in a combined remote training and software support role
  • Able to train and support audiences from operators through IT and shop management, and to independently diagnose software, workflow, and machine-integration issues
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Teams, TeamViewer or similar, Outlook, and ticketing systems
  • Able to manage multiple concurrent engagements without dropped cases, and to work independently without daily oversight
  • Comfortable using AI tooling as part of daily work — we use it heavily across support, training, and documentation; able to speak to how you use AI in work and everyday life

  • Working knowledge of metal fabrication and shop floor operations — nesting and material yield, CAD-CAM programming, blueprint and DXF/DWG handling, CNC cutting
  • ERP, shop management, or estimating platform exposure

  • Location: Fully remote, working hours aligned to Central Time (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
  • Position type: Full-time, individual contributor
  • Travel: ~12 customer training trips/year (domestic & international)
  • Reports to: Head of Support & Professional Services
