Job Title: Electromechanical Assembler

Job Description

This role focuses on the complex and final assembly of electromechanical products, combining mechanical and electrical skills to build, test, and verify high-quality assemblies. You will interpret technical documentation, use a variety of tools and equipment, and ensure each product meets strict quality and safety standards. The position requires strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and a commitment to continuous improvement in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex and final assembly of electromechanical products, including mechanical and electrical components.

  • Interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, and written specifications to complete assemblies accurately.

  • Plan assembly procedures when instructions are not fully prescribed, using sound judgment and technical knowledge.

  • Adjust, fit, and align components to close tolerances to meet inspection and quality standards.

  • Operate hand and power tools, soldering equipment, and measuring instruments safely and effectively.

  • Perform wiring, soldering, crimping, and routing of cables, harnesses, and point-to-point connections.

  • Operate and troubleshoot automated assembly and related production equipment as needed.

  • Conduct functional and diagnostic testing of assemblies to verify performance and identify issues.

  • Inspect components and assemblies to ensure they meet strict quality control requirements.

  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues that arise during assembly and testing.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of assembly procedures, test results, and inspections.

  • Apply lean principles and process improvement techniques to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.

  • Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and support continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Follow all safety protocols, use appropriate protective equipment, and maintain a clean and organized work area.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned within the same salary grade or below to support production needs.

Essential Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in mechanical assembly, including assembling mechanical systems and components with precision.

  • Hands-on experience in electrical assembly, including wiring, soldering, and testing electrical components.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and electrical schematics accurately.

  • Proficiency in operating hand and power tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, and soldering irons.

  • Experience operating and troubleshooting automated assembly equipment.

  • Strong understanding of assembly techniques, including sub-assemblies, point-to-point wiring, and cable harness layout.

  • Quality control skills, including inspection of components and assemblies to strict standards.

  • Technical troubleshooting ability to diagnose and resolve issues during assembly and testing.

  • Electromechanical testing skills, including performing functional and diagnostic tests on assemblies.

  • Proficiency in soldering and crimping electrical components and connectors.

  • High attention to detail to ensure precision and accuracy in all assembly tasks.

  • Effective problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues quickly while maintaining workflow.

  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation of assembly procedures, test results, and inspections.

  • Strong team collaboration skills to work effectively with others and meet production goals.

  • Time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines without compromising quality.

  • Commitment to safety compliance and adherence to safety protocols in a production environment.

  • High School Diploma or GED (required).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Technical Certificate or Associate Degree in electronics, mechatronics, or a related field (preferred).

  • Experience applying lean principles and process improvement methods to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.

  • Adaptability to changes in procedures, schedules, or technologies in a dynamic production setting.

  • Strong communication skills to share information clearly with team members and support staff.

  • Comfort working with both mechanical and electrical systems in an integrated electromechanical environment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a production environment focused on electromechanical assembly, testing, and quality control. You will work with hand and power tools, soldering equipment, measuring instruments, and automated assembly machines on a regular basis. Multiple shift options are available, including a first shift from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, a second shift from 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Monday through Thursday, and a weekend shift (fourth shift) from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday through Sunday, with specific staffing needs on second shift. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and organization, with clear protocols to ensure a safe and efficient workspace. Dress expectations align with a manufacturing setting, where practical attire and appropriate protective equipment support safe operation around tools, machinery, and electrical components.

This is a Permanent position based out of North Mankato, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $51200.00 - $59425.00/yr.
