Extension Agent, 4-H Youth Development (Assistant, Associate, or Full)

Extension Agent, 4-H Youth Development (Assistant, Associate, or Full) The 4‑H Extension Agent has primary responsibility for planning, executing, and evaluating effective and comprehensive 4‑H programs for the county population, supporting the mission of 4‑H to develop youth and adults. The agent provides leadership for the entire 4‑H program, determines programming needs, plans, markets, implements, and evaluates programs, and also trains 4‑H volunteers, supports 4‑H clubs, and provides opportunities for school‑based 4‑H programs. Program and Community Leadership Assure principles of positive youth development are used across the program, ensuring qualified adult leadership, appropriate curriculum, and proper evaluation. Build relationships in the county to recruit, train, manage, and reward volunteer leaders for 4‑H clubs. Raise funds to support youth participation and volunteer development. Manage a county‑wide 4‑H advisory council of alumni, volunteers, youth, and county leaders. Develop a marketing/recruiting program to attract youth and volunteers from all sectors of the county. Handle program administration: accurate records, compliance with regulations, financial management, and USDA‑NIFA/IRS compliance. Requirements One of the following educational requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree, GPA 2.5 overall or 3.0 in child/youth development or related field (waived for NCCE Program Associates).
• Bachelor’s degree with at least half of master’s coursework completed at GPA 3.0+ in child/youth development or related field.
• Master’s degree with GPA 3.0+ in child/youth development or related field.

Bachelor’s degree in a field related to child or youth development with relevant work experience in Extension or teaching. Valid North Carolina driver’s license. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in child and youth development, education, or related field. Experience developing and/or managing community gardens for youth programming. Experience planning programs and working in varied communities. Experience working effectively as a team member. Experience with mass media, marketing, and presentations. Leadership, citizenship, budget management, and public relations skills. Ability to recruit, train, and supervise volunteer leaders. Grant writing experience for program support.
