Role Description The Direct Support Professional is a full-time, on-site role based in Branford, CT. In this position, the individual provides daily support to people with physical and intellectual disabilities, including assistance with personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks. The role involves supporting individuals in community activities, transportation, and recreational events to promote social engagement and independence. The Direct Support Professional follows individual service plans, documents progress, and communicates observations to supervisors and team members. This role also includes monitoring safety, supporting skill-building and training, and advocating for the preferences and rights of the individuals served. Qualifications Candidates should possess skills in Human Services and demonstrate an understanding of person-centered support. Candidates should possess strong Interpersonal Skills and Communication abilities to interact effectively with individuals, families, and team members. Candidates should possess knowledge of Intellectual Disabilities and experience or interest in supporting individuals with diverse needs. Candidates should possess Training-related skills, including the ability to follow care plans, learn agency procedures, and support skill development for individuals. High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework or certification in human services or related fields is beneficial. Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and a respectful, inclusive approach to care. Reliability, ability to work assigned shifts (including evenings/weekends as needed), and capacity to perform physical tasks associated with direct care.
