Job Description Job Description Foreman / Equipment Operator – Excavation Company The Foreman / Equipment Operator is responsible for leading field crews while safely operating heavy equipment on excavation and site development projects. This position oversees daily job site operations, ensures work is completed according to plans and grade specifications, and maintains safety, productivity, and quality standards. Key Responsibilities: Supervise and coordinate crew members, subcontractors, and daily job tasks Operate excavators, dozers, loaders, skid steers, backhoes, rollers, and other heavy equipment Perform excavation, trenching, grading, utility installation, demolition, and site preparation Read blueprints, grade stakes, site plans, and elevations Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to specifications Enforce OSHA and company safety policies Communicate with project managers, inspectors, suppliers, and clients Inspect equipment daily and report maintenance or repair needs Troubleshoot field issues and adjust operations as needed Complete daily logs, production reports, and material tracking Qualifications: Experience in excavation, underground utilities, grading, and site work Proven leadership and crew management abilities Skilled operation of heavy construction equipment Ability to read plans and understand grades/laser levels Strong problem-solving and communication skills Dependable, self-motivated, and safety-conscious Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred) Summary: This role combines hands-on equipment operation with field leadership, requiring someone who can both run the job and run the machine efficiently.
