AHEAD is looking for Data Migration Engineer to work closely with our dynamic project teams (both on-site and remotely). This Data Migration Engineer will be responsible for providing technical expertise to help organizations design, architect, and implement large database migrations, generally from on-premises systems to cloud-based solutions.The consultant will have to have previous experience guiding migrations from technical perspective. Examples would be migrating existing MSSQL server environment with 20 to 200 servers to Azure. They should have the experience recommend tools to assist the migration, and the technical skills to operate them.This consultant will architect, design, build, and support modern data environments that reside in the public cloud or multi-cloud enterprise architectures. They will be expected to be hands-on, but also be client-facing and present to leadership.ResponsibilitiesAssess existing database environments migration planningDesign appropriate target architectures in the Cloud platformDocument design and key technical issues for communication with client engineersIntegrate solution with data governance monitoring toolsKnowledgeable about the various platforms used for ingesting, cleansing and transformation of data, both legacy and cloud solutions.Engineers and supports data structures including but not limited to SQL and NoSQL databasesLeverages the right tools for the right job to deliver testable, maintainable, and modern data solutionsRespond to customer/team inquiries and assist in troubleshooting and resolving challengesWorks with and guides other scrum team members to estimate and deliver work inside of a sprintResearch data questions identify root causes and interact closely with business users and technical resourcesQualifications 3+ years of professional technical experience with real world experience migrating existing data environments to the cloudDeep understanding of SQL and related technologiesExperience with building highly scalable Big Data solutions using Hadoop, Spark, stream processing, and Lambda architectureExperience in an IT strategy & enterprise architecture / consulting role in an organization that has executed large scale migrations to cloud.Proven experience with Cloud infrastructure and securityExperience implementing complex solutions in large enterprise companiesCloud Certification (AWS, Azure, GCP) would be advantageousStrong client-facing communication and facilitation skillsKey SkillsOrganizing and running complex data migrations to the cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP)Data Migration tools (Striim, iSpirer, DVT)MigvisorTraditional data environment (OLAP/OLTP servers, ETL platforms)Cloud Data ServicesOracle or MSSQL, NoSQL, ETL/ELT, Spark, Data Warehouse, Data Lake, SnowflakeCompensationThe target total compensation for this role is 125-145kWhy AHEAD:Through our daily work and internal groups like Moving Women AHEAD and RISE AHEAD, we value and benefit from diversity of people, ideas, experience, and everything in between.We fuel growth by stacking our office with top-notch technologies in a multi-million-dollar lab, by encouraging cross department training and development, sponsoring certifications and credentials for continued learning.We understand that you have a life outside of work.
